I just now saw this thread about Patches. I was really hoping we'd all be celebrating her safe return home by now. It's very possible she's alive and has found a different house where the people feed strays, and you'll have to locate her again. Please don't give up hope.

That's good that you've she's been seen though, Chelle!

However hard it might be, maybe when you see her you need to coax her over (I know I'd excitedly try to get hold of her, but it might be a shock as she's in unusual teritory!) Keep a smelly top with you so you smell friendly and possibly try Felifriend to help you to smell familiar!

What were afraid of is that if/when she comes home, what kind of shape will she be in? I know that we'll have to take her to the Vet to make sure that she is okay but the thought of her contracting a disease or something really scares me

Oh, Chelle - I feel so bad you're baby is still missing. I don't think it's that she doesn't want to come home. I think her instincts are just telling her how to be an outside cat. Can you borrow a safe-trap and try to trap her? I know you might get a different cat at first, but if you keep trying it really could work.

Yeah, Patches will need to see a vet, but I've read lots of stories about pets who have been gone a long time and turn out to be fine. My vet told me about one cat who was gone 8 YEARS and the owners finally got hre back because she was microchipped!

My prayers are still with you all.

Hi Chelle. I've been following this thread and hoping patches will come home.

They are called humane traps or safe traps because they don't harm the cat. The cat may be frightened when she goes in the trap and the door slams shut but she isn't hurt in any way. It's made of wire and the door is held open by a hook arangement. You put food, something Patches really loves, at the back of the trap. She'll be attracted by the food and go in the trap. When she goes in she'll step on a metal plate which releases the hook and closes the door.

When I was trapping ferals in my yard a few years ago I found that the cats didn't want to go in the trap when they saw the wire floor. If you put newspaper on the floor of the trap, drizzle juice from canned cat food from the front to the back of the trap and put a can of food at the very back of the trap it works great. I caught several cats that way that would not go in the traps before. You may be able to borrow a trap from a rescue group or your local Humane Society or animal control office. I borrowed from a local no kill shelter and sent the cats to the shelter after I trapped them.

I know how you feel about Patches contracting a disease but chances are she'll be fine. The important thing now is to get her home. As Rockcat said you may not catch Patches right away but keep trying. If you can figure out where she's hanging out try to put the trap there. Good luck! I'm sending out vibes that she'll be home soon.

Keep trying. Sometimes it just takes a while. Have you set the traps at night? Since cats are naturally nocturnal you might have a better chance at night. I know how hard it is to be patient when you want her home now. I'm sending more {{{{{come home patches}}}}} vibes.

Oh Chelle!
Please don't lose hope!

You have so much support and so many good vibes coming your way!

Has anyone seen Patches lately? Have the people that were feeding her seen her?

I truly hope that she surprises you and returns home soon!
