Oh, how wonderful to see that! I thought for sure that you were going to have to take completely over for Momma cat, and hand-raise the kittens! Since she has been aggressive with the kittens in the past, however, I would not leave her unsupervised with them for the next week or so, just to be on the safe side.

Great work!

You have done an amazing job with your cats! They are just adorable, and I'm so happy that Momma is caring for them now. I think you are wise to supervise all their interactions.

You questioned (in the other thread) if you should continue to bottle feed if they are nursing...you could go either way. If it was me, I would keep weighing them, and so long as they are gaining wt I would let Momma do all the feeding. Also watch that they have nice round little bellies after nursing. And that they are sleeping contentedly. If they start crying and she isn't feeding them, or if they lose any weight, you could supplement.

You do realize that you have saved their lives, right? What a miracle! You have every right to be proud of yourself....thanks for sharing the experience with us!

What a fine job you've done! Whatever stress Momma was under, is either subsiding, or she's finally getting the hang of motherhood! And all because of your efforts!!!! I wonder if the babies were initially weak, and through the hand-feedings, became strong and healthy enough, that Momma doesn't feel the need to "cull" her litter, or to abandon them now.

In any case, you're responsible for saving lives, and giving these kitten a chance to grow into healthy, well-adjusted cats! Good for you!!!

morning all, well more good news last night i left the kittens with mum i slept in the same room to be on the safe side but not a squeak.all babies were nursed by mum and she was brilliant, so it seems that is doing her job now so i got a good nights sleep (compared to previous nights) i gather she dont like to be confined because she didnt attempt to move them at all and she had the whole house
again many thanks to you all

That IS great news! I would still keep your eye on Momma with the babies for a week or so...but it sounds like she's finally getting the hang of motherhood!
