A friend of mine suggested that I contact the Cat Protection League to help with spaying/neutering costs. I initially didn't think I would be eligible as I am employed, but have been off work for a while due to ill health.
Anyway, they have ageed to fund half of the spaying/neutering costs for 3 of the kittens. And every penny helps! I just want to say thank you to them.
So Boris, Theodore and Amelia are being spayed/neutered next week.
I had started to make alternative arrangements for them to be spayed/neutred at my usual vet but this has come as a welcome surprise. In a way, its for the best as my usual vet was apprehensive about neutering them this early and said that the norm is usually 6 months. However, with playtime not looking like innocent playtime anymore they need to be done asap!
So thank you Cats Protection League!
With regard to my other kitten Olivia, due to her Persian qualities, I am looking at showing her...so I'm not spaying just yet. However, as she is strictly an indoor cat and with all other males fixed, there won't be the risk of her falling pregnant.
ps - my usual vet said that after neutering, a male cat is still fertile for up to 4-6 weeks after the operation....is this true?
