how long about does the mother still breast feed the kittens? and when is it a good time to get the mother fixed to prevent more kittens?

kittens should be weaned about 4,5, or 6 weeks.

you should probably wait until her milk dries up until you get her spayed (some vets wont do it if she still has milk). but if it takes longer it is ok. just make sure she stays inside so you dont get into a situation like i am.

I still catch Buddha trying to nurse on Kitty but usually she rabbit kickis him. lol.

Kittens will start weaning around 5/6 weeks of age...however they will most likely still "snack" on mom for a few weeks following weaning. My recommendation is to plan to have mom spayed when the kittens reach 10-12 weeks of age. Depending on whether they have continued to feed on mom or not...it may be an additionaly 2-3 weeks before her milk dries up and she can be spayed.

Mine started to stop at 8 weeks but still nurse a couple times a day. They are 11 weeks old. I know for sure my girls not getting pregnant so I am not rushing it. I'd call you local vets and see who will be able to spay her the earliest to prevent more kittens-Misty(the mom cat I took in-prepregnant:S) just came out of heat-started when they were 10 weeks old) RJ

I would suggest 10-12 weeks because then you can take all the kittens in with her and they can all get done together.
