We just bought an albino siamese from a breeder in our area. Both parents have papers but they would not allow them to register our kitten. Something about the breed / coloring is no longer recognized for kittens born after March 1. Is this true all over, or is it just our region? Any info would be great.

I would imagine that since albanism would be a disqualifier that the breeder wouldnt want that kitten registered... is the kitten "fixed"

While albinism is a disqualifier for ~showing~, it wouldn't preclude an Albino Siamese from being registered. However, there is not enough information here to go upon to etch that in any big rocks yet. What association are we talking about?

She is not fixed yet. Appointment next Thursday for all the Vet stuff. From the info that I have been given, it is the CFA that says no the recent registration. Mom is an albino siamese who is registered and when we put a deposit on her it was with the understanding that she would be registered. We bought her anyway for the deposit price (we just fell in love with her and her personality- very vocal and certainly a diva). I researched it a bit and it seems to be true. Is the CFA the only organization that I can register her with? I am a novice at all of this.

CFA is a pedigree-driven registry. This normally means that if there is a total of 8 generations backwards in the ancestors of your kitten registered with CFA as Siamese, then the kitten should be eligible for registry as a Siamese. To my knowledge, color (or in this case, the lack thereof *wink*) would only restrict you from showing this girl, not from registering her.

I would suggest that you call CFA directly and give them the full name of this kitten's dam and sire if you know them and ask them if your baby can be registered. And if she can't, then love her, spay her and enjoy her quirky Meezer behavior without the papers.
