OK, and this isn't just directed at you, arcadiangirl, please stop putting down your work. A lot of work goes into the sigs and you shouldn't put down how far you have come in making them.

Feel free to ask for constructive criticism but don't tell people that you don't think your own work is worth posting or that you don't think its good. You worked hard on it and while people don't have to use any sig made, they should appreciate your efforts.

I can't speak for the others, but I would be happy to help anyone who wants help, and many of us have posted tips on how to make them in this forum

Oh and I think the sig is really good, especially if its your first real attempt

You said all of that quite well!

I couldn't agree more
Most of my first attempts were much too embarrassing to post.

This was the first I was brave enough to post:

For your first attempt, you did MUCH better than I did!

A big bas relief experiment for Yarra. I will make you a more traditional sig at some point.

aww! That is so pretty! Polly was a kitten in that picture, I can't believe how much she has grown in a year. I picked her up last night to carry her to bed, and it felt like I was trying to drag a lion to bed with me!

Thank you so much!

You guys have inspired me, my BF went and got Paint Shop Pro 9. He let me install it on my computer and I am going to try to make some siggies and download some fonts! lol

It's 10am here, I guess I am looking at another day of working on signatures! lol

i suppose you are right... i have a habit of doing that. :/ i'm a perfectionist, i guess. i write as well, and i belong to a LJ community where we all post up our writings, and often i'll write a story and post it up, and then have a huge attack of "oh gosh that really wasn't that good at all, why did i post that?"

seriously though, i'd just hate for someone to use it just cos they felt obligated. and technically it's the second sig i made, but i'm still very much a beginner.

i completely understand what you're saying though, and you're right
i will make a point not to undermine my own work again. actually i'm happy with everything but the boat - that darn boat gave me fits :/ it was supposed to be a wooden one, but you'd be surprised how hard it is to draw a wooden boat

lookingglass - really glad you liked it

icklemiss21 - i may take you up on your offer of help in the graphics questions thread sometime

I am the same with mine and rarely completely happy with them (and I don't join LJ rating comms for that reason
)
I am not sure what you are using but photoshop actually has a wood texture installed you can select the area and apply the texture

I know I am not supposed to comment in this thread (Bad Mod), but can't I just take one of Abby's sigs and write "Zissou on it?

....and then once you make one, and someone uses it and you see it all over the board, you pick out every mistake you made in it
I have even Pm'd people corrected ones before.

No!!! Zissou will figure us out.
You know you almost could, although Zissou lost the baby fat on her cheeks and made me a sad mommy because it was the end of kittendom. I was looking at those four pics again and if anyone can come up with a witty saying for her to be saying in that one that she is sniffing the camera in (the top one) I think it could be hilarious. That picture begs for a caption, but I'm no comedienne.
I had another idea too, since she's no longer going to be a kitten she could be like driving a car or voting or something that is a human indicator of "adulthood".

Too bad when I try and make a sig it looks like Zissou puked on a piece of paper. I have so many ideas I'd love to make other people sigs too.

Since we are both being bad and commenting, I will move our comments to the other thread, but.....

Don't be discouraged at first. When I opened Photoshop for the first time I nearly cried. It didn't take me long to get the hang of it, and I am still learning.

Two for GloriaJH (whose photos I took from another thread. I'm not following any chronological order here, and just "lost" my notebook, so bear with me until I've transferred stuff to this one.)
