I am worried about Napoleon. For the last two weeks he has been coughing/sneezing in the same way as his brother Wellington, though he has shown no signs of asthma before. At first I thought he was trying to get rid of a hairball, but nothing has appeared and now I don't think it is that. Does asthma go in cat families? I feel so sorry for them if I have to put both brothers on life-long meds. I am trying to decide whether to let vet Haris look at Napoleon here, or to wait the three weeks till I can get him to a French vet. I would not want to start him on a strong med like prednisone without a vet's advice.

i would get him to a vet now.. it could be something else... and I wouldn't want it to get worse.. 3 weeks is a long time if it's sick.

I think I'd probably take him to vet Haris, Jenny, since he's already familiar with both brothers, and Wellington's condition.
I wouldn't be surprised if it ran in families, because it often seems to in humans. I wonder if moving to France will alleviate Wellington's asthma?

You are right of course - and there is the stress of the journey to consider too. I wrote rather without thinking. But there is also the fact that my vet here, though dedicated, is distinctly lacking in diagnostic equipment, and I have been so looking forward to getting the cats to France where they can have a proper check-up, including bloodwork, for the first time in their lives.
