pregnancy?????(human~might be tmi)

Ok so I know I haven't been on here in awhile but work and life will do that to a person. Here's my thing.......my LMP was april 14th.....so on may 31st i went to the dr for a Prego test....it came back positive so based on my LMP i was at about 5 weeks. so Tuesday I got in for my first OB visit, had another positive prego test and got a ultrasound scheduled......which I did today. Well see I work in the hospital in the Radiology deptartment which means I knew the person who did the exam and have access to my results before my OB Dr. even does. So, as the US was being done the tech tells me that from the look of things I was only abou 4 weeks along.......then shows me the gestational sac and the yolk sac.....but then I got my report this afternoon again.....before my Dr has seen it......and the radiologist who read it basicly states....."suspect an early intrauterine pregnancy. Gestational sac measures 7 mm but no embryo is visiable" to me that means that there's no baby, no embryo!!! I am so scared right now!!! I swear I am never going to look at my medical records again before talking a the Dr about my results.

My biggest things are how could I miss a whole period and only be 4 weeks preggers??? and test positive 2 times in a weeks time period when technically most people don't even miss a period until they are atleast 5 weeks along??? according to what I am reading in places and what not I couldn't have tested positive when i did!! Or could this be a false pregnancy? or could it just be that this baby isn't ment to be and isn't growing at the rate it should be??? Has anyone on here had anything like this?? I'm just so darn SCARED!!! I don't want to lose this baby... ....if it's really even there.

Well, to be honest, I don't know anything about the test and when it's positive or not and when. But I can send you my thoughts and prayers that everything will be okay.

I would wait to talk to the doctor. "...No embryo present" may just mean they didn't get it or find it on the ultrasound???
Your OB may do another one in a week.

I can only give you my advice as the mother of two toddlers who had crazy pregnancies and a degree in human physiology. A blood test can confirm preganacy as early as 5 days after conception. Urine test usually require a two week wait (from conception). Doctors determine your due date from your LMP. Therefore, most people find out they are expecting at 4-5 weeks. I was big-for-dates at 10 weeks and had an abdominal US, at that point my baby looked like a cockroach and had just shed the yolk sac (the remnants were still there and visible). I'm sure the baby is in there. The only case where the yolk sac formed and there was no child, as far as I know, was in a woman who was taking serious anti-seizure medication. Good luck with your likely pregnancy.

LMP usually isn't the most accurate indicator of when you conceived, since most women don't have a typical 28 day cycle. My cycles are 31 days on average, and that's pretty common. You could range anywhere from 21 days to 40 days really. Maybe the embryo is just too tiny at this point to get a good visual. I hope and pray that everything will go well for your pregnancy and that you get some answers soon. The waiting must be terrible. I'm sending lots of vibes your way.

Well after spending a nite crying one minute and really grumpy and cranky the next.....I feel a little better today.....still scared and very nervous, but at least I can look at a pregnant women today and not get all upset over it. My SO kept telling me that until we hear other wise I need keep going as if I am preggers....I've said my prayers and so has he so hopefully with all the prayers and thoughts in a few weeks we will see our baby.

just glad my SO has the faith....told him last night that he needed to have it for the 3 of us........his response to that was see you still have a little bit if your still counting the baby's say. But I think I am going to call my Dr later this afternoon to say hey what's up, I read my report......talk to me!

So my Dr called me this AM left me a message that she got all my test results in and she wants me to call her even if it's after hours I'm to page her.....so I called her back she was with a pt so I left a message with my number for me at work. so here I sit and wait to see what's up with my body and maybe baby.

I'm not as scared and upset as I was at first right now I'm more nervous then anything. I've been able to calm down talk to alot of people and get most of my worries off my chest but I'm tired of sitting and waiting. I wanna know what's going on you know?

Cindy---- I will try to explain what it may be without confussing you. (I went through 3 yrs of infertility and learned lots in that time. Like someone else said they go by LMP so when your period is due that would be 4 weeks. while that may be the case for some that ovulate on day 14 of a cycle not all women do. some may even ovulate a full week later which would actually only make them 3 weeks instead of 4 when the dr's think you should be 4 weeks. 2nd not sure how far along you were at your ultrasound but an untrasound won't even pick up an embyo or fetus until around 5-6 weeks and won't pick up a heart beat until 6-7 weeks. the sac will show up first and then a fetal pole THEN the embryo. I suggest either getting a blood test that will tell you your actual HCG (pregnancy hormone) levels and see how far along that says you should be. Those have to be at a certain level for anything to show up on an ultrasound.

So if you got a pos. preg. test, and an ultrasound showed something it is NOT a false pregnancy, You are either at the early stages and it was too soon for the ultrasound to pick it up, which is my guess. or you will have an early miscarriage which I doubt. to me sounds like it was too early for an ultrasound. how long do you normally go between periods? you normally ovulate about 14 days before your period comes. so if you go say 34 days between them then you don't ovulate till day 20 or so which would make you almost full week less than what the doctors think you are.
