Hi, I'm new to the site, and I have a few questions. My female kitty, Cathy almost 6 months old now, have an appointment at the vet for her to be "fixed" on Wedsnesday.
How complicated is this procedure?
What kind of care would she need?
I have another kitty, Sophie 4 months, should they be separated when Cathy comes home? If so for how long?
I guess I could ask this to the vet himself, but I prefer the experience people...
... So any input will appreciated. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to TCS!

The spay is a very routine procedure really and carried out extremely often!

Will you be having pre-op blood tests? I was recommended these as it gives you a good baseline for the future and juct confirms the health of your kitty!

After the spay, Cathy may be drowsy and sore for a while (although pain meds will be given before you take he home and you may get some for continued treatment) You will be able to guage how Cathy is feeling once she's home!

When my Molly was spayed, I received some light foos for her, so it would be gentle for her tummy! She wanted to alone and sleep off the remnance of the anaesthatic - so I placed her in a separate room from Tibby.

You'll also want to keep an eye on the incision line - an e-collar might be required to prevent her from licking and/or biting her stitches. Jumping and over exertion are something you should avoid for her, but this is a difficult task!

I'm sure she'll be fine!
