Alright, some of you may know that we do not allow Trout to sleep in our room with us at night because she is still really rambunctious. I have wanted to try it though because I keep thinking it will be good for our "bonding". So, I finally snuck her in the last 3 nights and this is what ensued:

1st Night: At about midnight, Trout morphed into her attack mode which led her dad to boot her out of the room.

2nd Night: At about 2am, She was playing really rough on the floor with her bear and the bell on her collar was dinging to and fro which caused me to inadvertantly while still asleep, boot her out.

Last Night: This was the cutest experience I have ever shared with her. She was very restless throughout the night, she came and went as she pleased. She kept getting bored and jumping on me and walking around on me. And she would lay right above my head and just purr so loud that it woke me up.. It was too cute though, so I didn't mind being woken up by that. All through the night she was on me, off me , on me, off me. All the while purring so cute.
Her dad ended up booting her out at 4am because she woke him up and he doesn't appreciate the purring like I do.

When I woke up this morning, I was surrounded in all her toys..it seemed she was bored and was trying all night to play while on me.

What a little sweety, I just love her so much...her little purr really is music to my ears.

Awwww, Trout
Your such a little sweetie!

One day you and hubby will get used to all of this activity at night and sleep right through it!
I got used to Dori sleeping on my head and purring. I do end up waking up after she has been there a while because it gets so hot

It was really sweet, I couldn't beleive how close I felt to her after last night. Usually she is not a very cuddly cat, and I really want her to become more attached to me..so hopefully she starts calming down so I can sleep with her every night

I learned that lesson after my 1st trip to petsmart. We got Lucky all these cool toys and I got home about 9pm, couldn't wait to show her all her stuff, so we played for a little while. Then Daddy & I went to bed...usually she would follow...not this night. She was darting
through the house at 90mph up over the back of my couch, into our daughters room up the ladder to the loft bed, down the ladder to the loft bed, under our bed, across the room, on top of my nightstand, over our heads, across the bed, and back into the living room. We layed there for 30 minutes...waiting
...impatiently
...fuming
... for her to calm down. No such luck.
I finally had to take all her toys away and put them in a drawer. Now they all go in a basket and she leaves them alone, but every once in a while I wake up and there's a fishing pole at the end of my bed.

Actually it was pretty gross this morning..she has this stuffed bear she likes to attack and bite..and it was right beside my head when I woke up and it was all slobbery

I've been sharing my bed with my fur babies for just over 6 weeks now (shut out prior to that - 6 weeks ago was when I got my new kitten and decided to change the rules) and am only just getting used to it and able to actually get some sleep! Jaffa my older cat settles down in his favourite place on the bed straight away and Mosi the kitten is now finally settling down at bedtime instead of setting off on a voyage of discovery and attempting to scale mount wardrobe. He starts off asleep on the floor but in the early hours of each morning he climbs into bed with me and snuggles up close. Sometimes he wakes me up doing it and other times I just wake up in the morning with him cuddled up as close as he can possibly get under the covers. Jaffa always edges closer to me as the night wears on so that by the morning he's lying cuddled up to me on the other side. The main problem is that it's now getting a bit warm at night to be the meat in such a warm, furry sandwich!

Phenom still hasn't fully adjusted to sleep time when its late. She usually play on the floor for a while then gets tired and goes acroos the hall to "her" room (the guest room) and slleps on "her" be (the guest bed). Then about 1/2 way through the night she crawls between us and goes to sleep. Last night I woke uo the her under the covers with me, her head on my pillow too, sleeping like a little human!

when i got my Spike 2 months ago when he was 12 weeks old, i had him sleep with me the first night. the first couple of nights he would palyfully attack me anytime i would move(we all know how sharp kitty claws and teeth are) and just use me as a human jungle-gym overall. then one night he just curled up next to my chest and slept there the entire night. now he will only sleep on my bed, even for his cat-naps and he sleeps through the night. the down side to that is around 9:30 p.m. that lasts until i grab him to go to bed, he gets REALLY HYPER, but i would rather deal with that then an all night romp fest keeping the whole house up every night. the only thing with that is when he is ready to wake up in the moring, he will lightly bite the tip of my nose, ear or any other part if my body he can. then he will sit there, staring at me until i open my eyes, then it is an all out love fest with lots of purring, nose rubbing, and licking. but what can we say, we love our furbabies

That's how Bijou likes to sleep with me. I cover him to just under his front paws and he has his body stretched out beside me facing me with his head on my pillow. Sometimes before he goes to sleep he has to lean forward and lick my nose and eyelids - the eyelids hurt!

lol!
I would let my cat sleep with me, if he wanted to! lol!
I leave my door open, but then he just comes in to visit the rat! lol!
SOMETIMES I'll see him come up, but then I usually just get out of bed and try to make him stay with me! lol-he's just so cute, I can't help but cuddle with him!
lol!
He usually just keeps trying to run until I let him! lol! Sometimes he carries stuff in his mouth, and I think that it's cute, but he hasn't really given me any...but sometimes I'll actually throw a ball, and then he'll pick it up, walk around with it, and then once he comes near me I just take it from him and play with it with him! lol!

Alright everyone,
Last night I thought everything was going fine as I didn't really notice trout in the bedroom. I woke up in the middle of the night and felt her above my head and of course she was purring away..(so cute).

BUT...my boyfriend seems to be getting increasingly annoyed by her waking him up. I am getting used to her being there, but Ken isn't. This morning, he booted her off the bed and said some swear about how he is so sick of her waking him up. He is not a morning person, and is pretty much like the incredible hulk if he doesn't get enough sleep.

I don't what to do now. I really want Trout to be able to sleep in our room if she wants. I keep telling Ken she'll get used to it, and soon she will either ignore us at night or sleep quietly.

I'm at my wits end because I think he will put his foot down soon and say NO to letting her in the room. And I also think he is becoming resentful that I pick her needs over his. (not that I'm really doing that).

What do I do?

I'm so sorry that your boyfriend isn't liking Trout being with you!

It just takes time for everyone to adjust really! I hope you can work something out - maybe Trout will even learn not to go near Daddy while he sleeps?

A soggy wet teddy!! MMM that's fun!

I got woke up this morning too...she does the supersonic jump onto my king size bed and lands 1/2 way onto my head. I swear she thinks one day I'm just gonna forget to get up & feed her! She can't be that hungry...

See, I think that kind of thing is so cute, even if I'm really tired I think whatever Trout does is cute. But Ken just doesn't see it that way, he just gets annoyed.

It's going to take time for her to get used to being in the bedroom and for you (and your boyfriend) to get used to her being there. I'm a recent convert to the cats in the bedroom at night scenario having shut my 2 original boys out at night for almost 9 years. Now I have a new kitten and am slowly getting used to him and my older cat being there. Its probably a bit different with a kitten as he has been keeping me awake wanting to play, but finally he's settling down and we're all getting used to each other - last night was my first night of uninterrupted sleep since I got the kitten (although to be fair I have a tendency to wake up in the night without any help from my cats).

On previous occasions when I've allowed my older cat to share my bed at night he's been restless and I've wondered how anyone could sleep with a cat prowling around but now he just settles down straight away and I've got used to him being around. I've learned to shut them out mentally and not worry about where they are and what they're doing. It will get better if you give it time.

When we first decided to let the cats come in and sleep in the bed, it was hard to sleep. It didn't help that they sometimes had territorial disputes on my leg. I've gotten so used to them now I don't even notice when they come and go, except when Cindy jumps on me and walks up and down because she's hungry. Of course, I think that's cute too. I kinda miss them now when they sleep elsewhere.

Okay, last night Trouts dad came to bed after me, and he conveniently closed the door so she couldn't come in. This morning he said "he forgot" to leave it open.

Anyway, he did say we will try and take her bell collar off from now on and maybe that will help with her not waking him up. So we are going to try that

Wish us luck
