Those are beautiful baby names.
I love the name Ava.

Forgive me for asking, but I am new. I noticed people asking about your pets. Did you give them up because you are pregnant?

We are so excited!!!!!! we are starting to clean out the nursery room next week and at least work on getting it painted since we are going a deep cream/tan color it's for either gender so that can get out of the way. Then at the end of June we will be able to find out what it is, so we are so excited!

No that's definatly not the reason...It was just a lot for us to handle especially with the both of us being so young, my hours picking up at work and Jason of course working everyday....We felt as if the kittys weren't getting enough of our attention and love that they deserved, but yes they are in a home now that people can give them that love and attention 24/7 and we know the people well so that helps!! As far as the puppy goes we do still have Bootland... He's been a great puppy but he also goes with my dad a lot and down to play with his dogs and his other dog is getting so old she won't be able to make it much longer so Bootland helps Maddy (my dads 2nd dog) play and they both have a ton of fun together. But Jason and I miss the cats very very very much and a day doesn't go by that we don't think about them or talk about them. It was a very difficult thing to do.

I am really glad you two found loving homes for them. I know its hard. Maybe when the baby gets older and things are a little less hectic you could introduce a new kitten.
I like Brenden and Ava. Maybe you will have a boy and a girl. Just kidding. Jason is your middle name Lee? Mine is too and so is Lee's!

Yes, my middle name is Lee

We are also happy that we found a loving home and somebody that would take all 4 of them even. We've been assured that the cats will not go outside and won't be declawed. They do have a new owner that can spend lots more time with them than we ever would have been able to. I certainly want to get another cat or two down the road.

We weren't going to seperate them and wanted them to go to a home where there were no other pets to compete with, which luckily, we found.

And you can just call me Jason!!

Jason & Tara,
I am glad that you were able to find a good home for the cats. After reading your thoughts and feeling from the last thread, I feel that this was best for them. I really hope though that you both take some time to think about the decisions you have made and learn something from this situation. Pets lives are not disposable. Four lives were displaced because they were no longer what you wanted in your life and became inconvienent. I hope that all of this is given much consideration before you give any thought to bringing any additional pets into your home.

I agree, and as an Admin at this site, I think I should speak up and support this opinion. Pets are not disposeable. Nobody would give away their children when bringing pets into the home, so I think the decision made was careless and frivolous.

Thank you for saying that, Tanya and Ryan.

While a new baby is always exciting, and we are a supportive community here, the overriding purpose of this website and these forums is cat welfare. It would be remiss of everyone here to forget that message and just be supportive when the welfare of these cats was jeopardized because of poor planning and insight before taking on the responsibility of their lives. Thankfully, a good home was found for them, and their lives are not bound to the capacity of a city shelter. I do applaud Tara and Jason for finding the best solution for the cats, instead of either just dumping them (as we see the results here too often), throwing them to a shelter and making them someone else's problem, or keeping them in a home where they would basically be neglected. However, I wholeheartedly agree with Tanya that there are lessons to be learned from this situation and I hope that adopting pets is given more thought and planning than was done before.

Thanks for answering me. I'm glad you found nice homes for them, but I have to agree with what the people above have said. Adopting a pet is a lifestyle change that requires a total and absolute lifetime commitment. You should have thought about that in the beginning. If you no longer have any cats, why do you keep visiting a site that is primarily about cat care? I am sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but I am quite surprised more members aren't speaking out about this. I volunteer at a shelter, and I simply can not stomach when people consider pets disposable.

Trust me, we felt the TCS wrath when we first posted about getting rid of them. We know how people feel here and they've said what they've needed to say. And if we really thought the pets were disposable, we would have just dumped them, which we did NOT do. I promise you they are happier now, not because we didn't take care of them, but because their new owner has 100% dedication to them now. I admit, we probably weren't ready to get them, but what's done is done and nobody can go back and change it.

And we come back to this site because we enjoy most of the members here. We like to see pictures of their cats and other animals. There are probably tons of members just like us here that don't even have cats anymore. A site is made to be visited.
