Well, this has happened once before but it has been almost two years.

My wife and I set our alarms a little ahead of when we would normally like to get up. Just so we can snooze a bit. Now Avedis starts to Meow very loud and annoyingly after we turn off the alarm. He does it till the alarm goes off again. I thought maybe it was because the sound hurt his ears or something, but he has not done it before and he is over 5 (human) years old. Do you think he knows we should be getting up and is getting upset cause we have not got out of bed?

Yes but I wouldn't go as far as saying Avedis is upset. He's just nagging you to get up already.

Cats as alarm clocks is nothing new. The minute they know you need to be awake (to feed them, of course) they will do their best to get you out of bed. Like Yayi said, it's nagging.

Yep...sounds like he's familiarized himself with the concept that your alarm sounding means you should get out of bed...so when you don't get up right away, he gets upset. Lol...cute! Our Hobbes has a habit of meowing at our daughter's door if she sleeps in a bit too much.
He's her little play buddy.
