We recently introduced a new Kitten into our household - and all is going remarkably well. Cricket mostly accpets the new Kitten (except for the occasional bout of jealousy) and they happliy share the same lap and play together. However - Cricket bites the back of the Kittens neck, not to the point where she screams in pain or anything - mostly he does it as part of his grooming her. I was wondering why he would do this? Is it a sign of agression that I should punish?

He is male and that is how the male gets the girl. Is he neutered...

If he's doing it while he's grooming the kitten, it could also be him communicating something like, "HOLD STILL!!" Ours do that to each other, and their siblings.

He is neutered but the girl is too young. So don't worry shes safe
Sometimes Cricket does this during play as well, he gets a little rougher then. Is it likley that he is just playing a little too rough by accident?

Sounds like he is telling her he loves her, but also reminding her who the top cat is.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
My two are always giving each other little bites when they wrestle.

The only time i intervene is when one of them bites the other one too hard that they give out a small cry.

I heard that if a puppy bites to hard to let out a loud cry and he will understand No that was to hard I do not want to play any more. Maybe it is the same way for cats.
