I had a stray cat neutered on Thursday and he's doing fine except that he's still bleeding a little bit. He licks himself and that area looks fine otherwise. Is this normal after 3 days or should I be concerned? I've had many males neutered in the past but can't recall if there was slight bleeding afterwards. Thanks.

Thanks for your replies.
The bleeding is only slight, I'd say it's like when you prick your finger with a needle, tiny droplets.
I will, however, call the vet first thing tomorrow morning. I have since put him in the garage to prevent him from getting into any possible mischief tonight and I've washed that area with iodine as a precaution. Hoping all goes well.

Thank you so much for neutering this stray cat...you have prevented countless unwanted litters.

I should have been more specific...I used Proviodine 1% (topical antiseptic).
I was once told by my vet that this is safe.

And Katie (TNR1)...your Welcome...I am getting another stray neutered this week. Couldn't get them both done at the same time because only one at a time can be kept in the garage during the recovery period . They don't like each other very much, at the moment. They are both so friendly with us...when they arrrived here they were skinny and in need of a home. We took care of them and, of course, they stuck around. Will be outdoor cats though because we have enough inside already.

And an update...I checked this morning and he is not bleeding anymore. I quess a quiet night in the garage did the thing.
