I decided to do the dreaded bra shopping today ... Well I made the mistake of lettting the gal size me ... well she sized me totally wrong( I was sized about three months ago and have been the same cup size since I was 19 ) and tried to tell me the bras she gave me were the right fit...LMAO ... the straps had to be adjusted all the way just not to fall off cause the band was so big and the cup to small .... AM I the only one who has run into this??? I did go to another store and she sized me what I was three months back

I find that the older ladies do a great job at fitting, the times I've been fitted by someone younger they got it waaay wrong.

I've never been fitted so uh...no
Sorry about that, though! I know how that is, though, with bras that don't fit...they're a menace.

Yes and at the worst possible time! I was ordering a special something to wear under my wedding dress and totally sized me wrong. It came in and I went to try it on except that the cups would have been good fit for my head instead of boobs.
( a hint on how large my head is: My family jokes and says to move my water buffalo head when they're trying to watch tv. I know a bit of an exageration but still)
Anyways, I learned from that experience.

I used to shop by myself and try to find whatever fit best. Then a couple of years ago I decided to ask someone at a lingerie store and it turns out I had been wearing the wrong size all along. I was wearing 34C and I needed 32D! (which of course doesn't exist in department stores!
)

So the only person that ever fitted me wrong was myself!

I once went to a bra store and the lady didnt measure me she just took a look at my titties while i was standing there.

Right now i am wearing a 36C

But i am probably a D cup.. where do you find D cup bras? I rather go up a few sizes like 38 or 40 and wear a B

I've never had a fitting.... I found that depending on the style of the bra the fit is different... so I try them on and just get what is comfortable....

I have had this prob - my bras weren't fitting well, and I couldn't remember how to measure, so I went to M & S, and got told I was between one size and another (can't remember which), but didn't get brought any to try. So, I went to a shop where they are cheaper, and bought a couple for them still not to fit. Week after, I went to a very expensive lingerie shop where they did free fitting, more based on looks, and she told me what I was and was very apologetic cos of the look of shock on my face - it was 3 cup sizes bigger than I had been told the week before!! As I am a double number, I find it very hard to find bras in my size for a reasonable amount (normal cost of a bra for me is £20+), so tend to up the number to lose a cup size.
Fwan, there are a few mail order companies that do larger sizes in the UK, don't know if they would ship to other countries. Worth doing a google search though

I can never find my size (34d) in half the styles I like.

I went to get measured the other day and she told me that I had my size right but then said i should try 32dd too.

I think she just said that as she felt like she had to make some sort of comment as the 32dd no way fit me!

Oh, Fwan... I wish I had that problem. I don't know what it's like in Europe, but here in the US, D's are easy to find. Seriously.

A couple years ago, my old (favorite) bra was killed by a machine... so I went bra hunting. tried on a few things... finally found a cheap'n'nasty one at Fredericks (trashy place... crappy bras). A few months later, visited family in California. Went bra shopping with my mom because the one I'd just bought was nearly worn through. We hit a department store. There was a sales rep from Bali there and she was able to do a fitting. She sized me at 36DD. That's the largest size most American companies will make (bad American companies). Things were okay for a while... but I started getting frustrated... it really didn't fit right, but since I was professionally fitted, I didn't complain. Then, here in Chicago, a place called Intimacy opened up. They only have a few stores. I went up there for a proper fitting. i told her about the Bali rep, she shook her head in disbelief.

I was sized and bought one bra. A 34G. Yes, you read that right: 34G!

I wish I was around a C or small D cup. I'd be able to go in to ANY store and buy bras... I can't. I can't walk into a department store and buy a 34G off the rack. I have to go into specialty stores.

By the way, it fits like a dream. It's not some cheapie bra, it cost me about 60 bucks. But it's held together so far, with no signs of wear. It's also very comfortable. It's also NOT American made. So, unless I win the lottery and can afford reduction surgery, I'll never be a C cup again. *sigh*

Lesson learned: never, ever let a sales rep do your fitting.

Yeah... it sucks. I have to giggle a bit whenever I hear a woman with small breasts whine about how it's SOOO hard to find bras. HA! They have no idea.

I can't imagine myself now if I'd moved to Australia like I'd dreamed years ago. If it's that hard o find a D over there... I shudder to think what trying to find a G would be like....

I'm not ashamed of my size... frustrated? Oh heck yeah! But not ashamed. My gramma was big, my mother is big... but hers came partly from being a mom. I've seen pics from when she was my age and younger... she was MUCH smaller than me. I still say I inherited 90% of my genetics from my dad's side. I'm 1/4 Swiss and have the stocky build to go with it. My Grandpa had the barrel chest and broad shoulders... as do I (hint: I never need shoulder pads). Gramma was pretty much the same way, but wasn't Swiss. I've never seen pics of when she was young and she died when I was 6 (still miss her). Grandpa died when I was 2. I come from a stocky line... but I digress...

I do wish American bra makers would wake up and smell the ... well, um... you get the idea. Not everyone is a B cup. I would LOVE a pretty bra that fits. I have to walk past Victoria's Secret... the yonly go up to DD. You wanna know what a chick there told me once? "Go over to Lane Bryant, they have larger cup sizes." Yes... yes, they do... but their band sizes START at 38. I'm not a 38 anything. Period (give me five years and I'll be AGE 38). For those who truly want to know their bra size, open your yellow pages (at least here in the US) and find someone who does custom bras... even if you're a 'normal' size, they'll probably give you the best fitting imaginable. Now, if you live near an Intimacy store, or are visiting a city with one soon (Chicago and New York... and I think Atlanta, but i'm not sure), go in and get fitted there. They will give you an unbiased fitting.

Note to self: go back to Intimacy before moving and buy second bra.

The funny thing to me about you not being able to find C's and D's in Europe is that most of the bras in my size that I find here are FROM Europe. My one proper sized bra is from France, I believe. They're out there... if I can get a European bra here... you should be able to get them there... at least I'd believe so.

I'm in Canada and D's are easy to find, but only for sizes 36 and up. As far as I know, no major department stores sell 34d or 32d.

34G?
wow! that must be hard to find!

Yes... it is. Department stores and your regular chain lingerie stores don't have it. I hate 'the girls' but I can't do anything about them right now. So, I have one really good bra... and about four bad ones. Once i get a second good bra I'll throw the others out.

I have also never been fitted by anyone, excpet myself.
I really have thought about having someone help size me though......I hate bras for one thing and it always seems like they all fit differently
