That is hysterical... I mean, it's not - the poor cat is obviously very disturbed - but still, I can just picture it lying in wait...tail twitching...eyes dilated....and...POUNCE!!!!

The cat is normal ... and that is weird ... I would personally have ordered a psch eval for all the humans involved.....

Well at least the cat will have to stay inside which will be much better for him.

When I was really little I had a pretty bad attack from a neighbors cat that took a chunk out of my eye. But who in their right mind gets a restraining order???

I never knew that cats did that sort of thing. I sympathize with the neighbors though. It is very sad that the cat may need to be put to sleep, but I have experienced living with a neighbor who had a pet that made you afraid to go outside and it is deeply unpleasant.
The people next door to me should never have owned a dog, and they abused the string of them that they did have that all mysteriously died after a few years of kids shooting firecrackers, etc. Anyway, they let their 4 year old walk the lab-sized dog, and one day I was walking home from babysitting and the dog dragged the kid across the street and leapt at my throat. I caught it by the collar and held it up in the air which probably hurt it, but the da** thing was trying to kill me, so. Animal control was called several times, esp once after it killed someone else's dog. They were forced to put a couple to sleep. And just kept getting new ones.
I couldn't even go in my backyard.
So, perhaps it would be best for everyone if the cat were put to sleep and the owner never allowed to own a cat again. It seems insane that a cat could do so much damage that a few people had to go to the ER! Obviously something is very very wrong there.

So how exactly do they plan on making this cat abide by the order other than keeping him inside?
Some people are so weird. Why a restraining order on a cat. He doesn't understand that!!!

Well. Probably the restraining order prevents the owner from letting it outside? And if it is outside, I imagine they could cite the owner, as well as then the neighbors can call the police if its outside instead of waiting for someone to be attacked.
It is funny to think of the cat being served with a restraining order.

I imagine the town does not have a law which requires all cats to be inside. The restraining order probably is one way they can require that of one cat without having to require it of all.

Also note that the second article said, "Solveira also arrested the cat's owner, Ruth Cisero, of High Street, first for failing to comply with the restraining order and then for reckless endangerment."

lightninrod posted in Behavior with a link that contains video on this same topic. Thread called "attack cat" or "attacking cat" I don't remember.
