I picked up some Nutro can food for Mooch and Noodles the other day. I gave them one as soon as we got home...they wouldn't eat it! Noodles ate just a tiny bit. I just gave them another can and same thing! Noodles licked it, Mooch sniffed it. Thats it! Here I am all excited because the food looks so good, and they don't seem to like it! Has anyone else had this experience? Could they just not like the brand? Guess we won't be buying this one anymore....

Originally, I attempted to feed my girls Fancy Feast. Layla ate it without a problem, but Stevie would not. Then, I learned how terrible FF is, so I switched to Nutro Complete Car Adult Pouches. Well, Stevie did the same thing she did with the FF; would sniff and walk away. So, I took a treat, led her to the wet food with the treat, and placed the treat on the food. She went after the treat and then realized she liked what was under it. So, she starting eating the Nutro. I had to do this twice....now, she eats Nutro without a problem!

That worked for me, but I do believe that some cats are picky so it really may just be the brand!
Good luck!!

I bought a couple cans of several different brands (no by-products) and tried them all - turns out our kitties only like the Merricks. I took the other unopened brands back and exchanged them for Merricks.

I guess I'm gonna be trying out a variety for them now. I left the food for a bit and Mooch actually ate it all. Noodles decided she wants to sleep in my lap instead of eat.

As much as I try, Abby will not eat a good quality wet food. She will only lick the gravy on the nutro pouches. She will pick at Merrick. Most others she won't even touch. The only wet food she will eat is the Meow Mix pouches. I know they are not the best, but they don't have by-products. She gets one of those a day, and most days doesn't finish it. She does get Evo dry also and prefers that to the wet. I really would like her to eat more wet. Merrick has some new flavors that I plan on trying.

My kitties LOVE their Nutro kibble, but the only wet food they'll touch is Friskies

Spaz gets Purina One senior with her glucosamine suppliment and I have to drown it in Friskies juice.

My cats dislike most Nutro canned foods. They love the dry but the canned food seems pretty tasteless to them.

They do love Innova, Merrick, the smallest Nutro cans, Eagle Pack, Pet Guard, and Precise. There are a few other that they'll also eat without giving me the "got anything better?" look.

There is also a new Evo canned food, which my kitties loved. It might be worth trying a can or two of that.

my cats are now refusing to eat any wet food I've tried thus far. This includes everything from fancy feast, meow mix, natural balance, wysong, merricks, and innova wet. I haven't been able to get ahold of the evo wet, but that might have some potential. I wish they would make meat flavored baby food into a wet cat food since that's the only thing my cats can't resist.

My Gracie LOVED the EVO canned, but I'm lucky as she will eat virtually any wet food.

Leo, I have wet fod issues with, he's very touch and go. I make every effort to get as much wet food in him as possible, and that's the best I can do. Usually, he eats about 1/3 of a can per day.

Raphael is on a wet-only special diet, so he doesn't count.

One of the best things about cat forums is hearing that other people's cats are as bad as your own. I took to ordering samples from various online shops, and went through I don't know how many brands, till I found some canned food Jamie would eat. With the exception of Innova, which is no longer available here, and Solid Gold, he won't eat any wet food that isn't: 1) in a 2 or 3 ounce can, 2) European, and 3) the most expensive on the market, as it's meat or fish only, with one or two exceptions (1% rice, cheese, or carrots).
He'll only eat dry food imported from North America, though.

Okay I feel a little better that mine are not the only ones that will not touch anything else. Well, not exactly true. Zakk is the chief problem. He usually will not eat anything in a pate. Rocky doesn't like wet food much anyway, and the only kind he really seems to like is friskies turkey & cheese. The kittens USED to eat the good wet food, but now that they live with the big boys they prefer junk. These are the chief brands they will eat: friskies, fancy feast (which I never buy b/c it's way over priced for junk food), nine lives, meow mix pouches, nutro pouches, iams pouches, friskies and whiskas pouches. Oh, and they will also eat come of the science diet flavors with gravy, but usually leave most of the food chunks.
I know that nutro are the best, but they usually just lap up the gravy and leave most of the food, which seems like a waste considering the price of the stuff. I just bought some sophisticat wet food from petsmart- it seems like the ingredients are comparable if not better than friskies- have not taste tested it yet. Anybody have any thoughts?

BTW for dry food they usually happily eat nutro, nutro max, purina pro or purina one.

All either of mine do also is lick the gravy. I tried mashing up the morsels, and they did eat some of it. The pet stores around here don't have much variety. I got some Merrick and they like it, but the only flavor they have in the small cans is turkeyducken or whatever it's called. Petsmart has a lot of different foods, but most of it is the same as in the grocery stores. I see reference to lots of different things on this board I've never seen anywhere in the stores.

Sasha loves her Nutro. I've used all the different flavors of Max and Natural Choice, cans and pouches, and she eats every bit. Gizmo, on the other hand, refused to even taste it for a full month! She was 4 years old and had never had any wet food before. Once she finally tried it, she loved it, and now she's screaming at me in the morning before I even make it all the way down the stairs. She usually comes in the bedroom and starts nagging me as soon as my alarm goes off (she knows that nagging me BEFORE the alarm goes off gets her nowhere). Some cats can be incredibly stubborn!

Both Twitch & Lily refused to eat the Nutro canned food, but both love the pouches. Twitch prefers(by far) the chunks in gravy. She mostly just licks off the gravy.
We tried our first can of EVO tonight. They ate it like any other food, Lily gobbled a bunch down & Twitch picked at it. I ordered it from epetpals. Here's the link.

I also ordered every flavor Merrick I could get in small cans, Avo Derm, & California Natural. The only one Twitch really liked was the Avo Derm. Then again, she prefers chunks in gravy so she can lick the gravy off easier.

Neither of my cats care much for wet food either. I have tried all of them mentioned here except the Innova EVO. I keep trying. They do eat a high quality dry food and they both drink a lot of water.
