Seems like we talk about food a lot on here!

Wouldn't it be fun to assemble a TCS cookbook?

We could compile it via email and then send it back out to everyone as a .pdf, and people can print it if they want or save it on their computer.

It would probably be too expensive to have a bunch of em printed, bound and shipped.

But wouldn't it be neat? All kinds of recipes from members all around the country and all around the world? Ethnic food, regional food, healthy food, not healthy food...

I'm getting excited just thinking about it!

So...if anyone wants to do it, PM me with your email, and I'll send out a group email to get the ball rolling!

***EDIT- I'll send out the first group email MONDAY night, so PM me your address by then and we'll be good to go!****

Cassie- please PM me your email address- also, I'd delete your email address from your post--spammers are everywhere and web forums is one place they grab email addresses...

That's an awesome idea! Then we can be like, "I tried OllyExtra05's recipe for (insert yummy food here) and it was so good! (Or, we will quietly not say anything abouit it if we don't like it...hehe
) We can put our names in like Menagerie Mama's chicken casserole or something. Are we going to have different categories, like snacks, appetizers, soups, etc? I think Heidi should put in her oyster stew recipe!!

You're not crazy, there is a cookbook, Cooking With Cattitude, which helps raise funds for a rescue in OH.

Thank goodness,
I really thought I was losing my mind for a minute - I knew I had heard about it somewhere!

Thanks for remembering that, Linda! Yes, we did that a couple years ago and it was a resounding success. Last year we were pondering another fundraiser for a deserving animal rescue organization, but because of Katrina we decided that we shouldn't ask for any donations as there was more need there than could have possibly been met. But I would like to see another fundraiser, and another cookbook may be a good idea.

that sounds like an awesome idea. One quick question though. Are we talking about human or cat recipies? hehe. Either way, I'd love to get in on it. I have the full version of acrobat if you guys would like me to compile them all to make a PDF. I could also make them all so that they fit onto index cards. PM sent for my email addy.

Sounds like fun! We have some good recipes laying around the house. It looks like I still can't PM, though.. is there any way I can get my e-mail to you?

I don't want to squash your enthusiasm at all, but if there is going to be another TCS Cookbook, it will be an official one as a fundraiser for a worthy non-profit cat rescue (there are so many who need the help!!). The TCS staff is kicking around the idea now. I can tell you that a cookbook is actually a bigger undertaking than it sounds, and I'm really happy to see the enthusiasm as we will need volunteers to help put this whole thing together.

So really, there is no need to PM email addresses because this will be done totally above the board.

Well, if we wanted to organize a cookbook on our own, what's so wrong with that?

No, I wasn't here for the first cookbook and now I'm confused.

1) I wasn't trying to create an actual printed cookbook to be sold or anything, just a shared collection of recipes as a file that I would email to everyone

2) Am I not allowed to do this for some reason? If so...why?

I'm just a little confused and kind of annoyed because I feel like I'm being told, basically, that we're not allowed to do this because TCS wants to do an "official" one?

I'm not a moderator and I know that they do get tough on these boards at time.

I'm not trying to discourage you. It's a wonderful idea. It is a major undertaking though (I was a volunteer editor of one section of Cooking with Cattitude). This cook book was not printed (was accessible via a downloadable pdf file which could be saved or printed.

If you and others are willing to take on such an ambitious project, it just makes sense to have people make donations toward a worthy cause (shelter). A fair share of $ was raised with the first book.

Others have been tossing around the idea of having a "Cooking with Cattitude Part II" someday.

I'd be happy to contribute recipes and will stay tuned.

Hey I think this is a fun idea, and if we can use it to raise some cash for needy kitties, then even better!

Okay guys, here's the scoop.

I can't assemble a cookbook and call it the TCS cookbook since I don't own the rights to the name, and if there was going to be a TCS cookbook the mods would prefer it be an official one and be used to raise money for charity.

So, we can still email each other recipes, or we can wait to see if there's going to be another official TCS Cookbook...I don't know how real a possibility that is, but the mods have made it clear they don't want an unofficial TCS cookbook floating around out there, for whatever reason.

So, thanks to those who PMed me but it doesn't look like its going to work out the way I had envisioned it.
