I like older cats. To me, nothing is quite as cool as a relatively laid-back older cat that still loves playing, is independent enough to amuse itself, yet not too independent to enjoy the occasional snore session on some random spot on your body.

What is your cat preference?

I just LOVE kittens - but now that Harley is getting older, its nice to have a cat that can play alone and amuse himself, but still wants to be a luv bug (when he wants to anyways...
)

I'll always have a soft spot for those adorable little kittens!!

I like any cat!! I tend to go for the kittens more though. Although my sisiters cat is 7 and I just love her! Pandora is the sweetest most beautiful calico! She has gorgeous eyes!! All the older cats at the shelter make me sad though because most people adopt kittens.

According to my husband... the zoo
I love
kittens. Mostly I think because over the years we have learned that we can't do puppies - we don't have what it takes to grow a puppy into a dog... but with cats... we can do kittens! I think what I love most is how incredibly entertaining they are.

When it comes to choosing a cat though - (besides the ones who show up here and choose me) I think it totally depends on the cat - I don't always choose kittens over adult cats.

Lily is my first, and hopefully last kitten. I know this may sound weird, but I hate kittens. They are cute & all, but I do not think I want to go through kittenhood, again...ever. I have a real soft spot for the "unadoptables", wahtever they may be. There is a pair of cats, m & f, declawed, that do nothing, but appartenly no one wants to adopt them. I really love them. They are so sweet & they are cute. No one wants them, though. They would be my type of cats.

I do have a tendency to lean towards the special needs cats. Twitch is deaf, Lola is deaf, & Lily has bad knees. I love Damita, who is blind.

I guess I would have to say older cats, although raising 8 kittens last year was pretty fun! But we adopted Tigger two years ago when she was 14 and she is just the best! (Well, to me anyways - kind of a one-person cat.)

I tend to lean mor etoward a single older cat as well. Kitten antics are fun, but the "into everything" stage where anything you put down for a minute ends up under furniture gets a bit old after a while.

Ha ha!! And when our eight would "get going" it sounded like a herd of elephants!

LOL....We had four at some point. Sometimes when they were roughousing(sp?), we'd swear that someone was kicking the frontdoor down.

i loved having all of my 'kitten' cats, but i think Java was the easiest - & she was also the oldest i've ever adopted, tho at 3 1/2 months she was still a kitten. any future cats i actually 'choose' will probably be adults, or close to adults. since the last 2 chose me, that might not be an option!

While I love the way kittens look, and there is nothing sweeter than a sleeping kitten, I have to go with an older cat. I like having a more laid back animal and fairly independent.

That being said, I wouldn't trade the first few months of Gandalf and Samwise's time with me for anything but I am very glad they are no longer kittens and are beginning to calm down at bit. They are 2 years old at this point, it's a nice age.

I perfer the young adult but I let them choose me ... I am afraid of very young animals ( working on this ) and young adults are much easier to deal with

I have a sweet, laid back, independent two-year-old as well. It is indeed a nice age.

I think kittens are adorable, of course, but I have adopted older cats rather than have to go through the training required with kittens. Marnie was 6-8 months (vet estimate) when I got her, and she's trouble enough. LOL

Oh, ok! Maybe some day in the distant future, we'll be able to have everyone saved and then we can be picky!

Well, as far as looks go, I love the look of colorpoints. I'd love to come across a long haired blue point cat in my cat vaccuum. Not a himmy or a smush faced cat...one that looks sort of like huggy bear.

As for gender, I seem to like males better.

As for temperment...a relaxed 3-6 year old who likes to snuggle and is mellow and relaxed. I like cats that chit chat, too.

I love all cats...but I do have a real weak spot for handicapped ones. Forest is my first handicapped cat, but I'll definitely have more eventually. They have so much heart and spirit, you can't help but fall in love. (I'm currently trying to talk DH into adopting a 3-legged cat that we can name "Lieutenant Dan" to go with our Forest.
