I was woundering if anyone could shed some light on this very strange habbit my JJ has started doing
he started meowing at me and biteing me when ever I had a bath about 3 or 4 months ago at first I thought it was sweet I thought it was a hay mum get out of there and come love me sort of thing but it has esculated he is now doing this when I shower as well and he seems quite stressed out about the hole procedure he only dose this when I have a bath or shower and as soon as I'm out he is fine he watches me leave the bath room and all is well in his world again but I hate seeing him so upset it is really puzzling and I can not for the life of me figer out why he has taken such a disslike to this all of a sudden
I wil try and discribe a normal episode he sits at the door and stairs at me with big black eyes and meows not a growl he sounds stressed like he's in pain and he sits really really still I talk to him but he just stairs at me then he will inch closer to the tub (my shower is in my tub) and then he jumps up and bites me he gets sokeing wet doing this at times he has even waded through ankle deep water to get at me and he hates being wet but I don't think it is agressevie on his part he seems worried and scared can any one help shed some light cause I am totally baffled
and I can't stand seeing his so stressed out
any other time he is normal no prob's he's eatting well he's fine healthy happy no prob's so any ideas would be gratfully read and taken on board.

Thanks from Nancy & Jasper

I can't explain why hes behaving this way. Something about it must be really upsetting to him. I would try and distract him when its bath/shower time for you.Maybe give him a treat or feed him when your going to bathe. Keep the bathroom door shut and try not to let him in with you. Maybe even turn the TV or radio on so he doesn't notice you've gone into the bathroom and not hear the water running.

If this is new behavior that is escalating, I would take him to the vet.

Has anything traumatic happened to the cat or your family lately that he might be reacting to? Did anyone hurt him or did he see anyone get hurt? Has anyone fallen in the tub or is anyone sick? Have you switched soaps/shampoos so that you might smell different? Hopefully kitty is not psychic in that he "sees" you having an accident in the tub in the future.

Three of our thirty eight cats watch me shower every day, always the same three cats, but they don't meow as badly as you described above.

Maybe she thinks the shower is hurting you and her meowing will scare it away?

I talk (and, yes...I sing) to mine while I shower, maybe this would help?

it's nice to know he is not alone in doing this
but it is recent he is nearly 7 and I have had him since he was a kitten and until recently there has not been a prob he used to sit on the end of the tub with me and help me read by splashing water all over my glasses for me he dose not do that anymore
I do talk to him but it dose not seem to help but I will give singing to him a miss he would need therapy after that
thanks heaps it is good to know other peoples kittys do this to
