Sorry, but I had just to get that out. Had a call from a lady who adopted an adorable orange and white female kitten from us last July. She now wants to return the cat because (her words) "she runs around too much." She also complained the cat jumps up on her furniture and tries to sneak out of her apartment. She said she's tried spanking the cat, but she still misbehaves. This a woman who claimed to have a lot of experience with cats when we did the adoption. She also had the cat declawed.

I'm going to pick up the cat on Sat. morning to return in to foster care and will definitely have to use some restraint in dealing with this woman. I'll give her credit for contacting us instead of dumping the cat at the SPCA, but
that doesn't excuse how she's handled the situation.

Thanks for listening.

Some people still have the power to amaze me and I don't say that in a kind way. I'm also glad she called you instead of just dropping the poor kitty off somewhere.

I'll bet anything the cat jumps on her furniture because the lady hasn't bothered to get the cat any furniture of her own. People are morons. Cats like heights. It's not rocket science. Grrrrr

I too am glad the lady called you instead of dumping the cat at the pound. My middle kitty is from a situation like that -- my coworker adopted her from a rescue organization, then had a baby six months later and decided she didn't want a cat anymore. She was going to take the cat to the pound, where she surely would have been killed. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

So I took her instead, and she is the sweetest and least aggressive of my babies. How anybody could have wanted to get rid of her is beyond my comprehension.

The cat runs around too much?? what did she expect that cat to do...play dead all day? Maybe she should have got a stuffed animal instead!

OH heck...be honest woman! There aren't SOME stupid people....there are a LOT of stupid people.

Yes refrain from attacking this woman as you don't want to be in prison - your little ones NEED you!

That is a rather odd statment, isnt it. Of course she'd like mine...they spend the majority of their time sleeping and being lazy.

She obviously lied about having experience with cats. I can't believe she spanked the poor kitty! I'm just glad she contacted you instead of the SPCA. It's a shame that the kitty had to put up with that moron for 6 months.

You got it!
I remember this little girl from foster care and she's such a sweetheart. We're going to spoil her like crazy and be sure she gets the home she deserves this time.

Ours mostly leave the furniture alone (except for the comfy chair
). They like their tree. They prefer their tree. I designed it for our cats and they oblige me by preferring their tree since it's the highest point in the room.

"Spanked her?"
Geez ... some people ... perhaps she'd HAD cats, but she apparently didn't really have any EXPERIENCE with cats.

You are right. Some people are self-absorbed, ignorant fools.

I am so glad that you are rescuing this sweet kitty from her clutches.

(Hmm personally I don't like to judge people like that), but I MUST AGREE that she does need help when it comes to dealing with cats. Maybe she is just poorly informed, and needs some better techniques to train her cat, and needs to know how to treat them. But if she can't deal with the running around and stuff, then ummm I'd say no cat for her. I am glad you got the cat back. Hope all goes well now.

Contact the local shelters and rescues and let them know what happened. That way they will be wise to her tricks if she ever applies to adopt from them.

I try not to be judgemental of the people we adopt to but, in a case like this, when the person claims to have experience dealing with cats, then responds the way this woman did, it's hard not question their common sense. We tried giving her tips, but she wouldn't listen. We see too many cases like this.

I found out last night that she tried to adopt from us once before. She came looking for an older kitten in the spring and was very interested in a sweet, pretty white female. Then, she found out she couldn't have cats in her apartment, so the adoption fell through. The kitten in question was my Claire! I'm so glad she didn't end up in that home! The woman moved before she adopted the kitten that's now being returned.
