I cut the kids vertically but i cut mine from corner to corner.

Now THAT depends on the sandwich. My balogna sandwich HAS to be cut into 4 triangles (with potato chips or something crunchy on it). Grilled cheese HAS to be cut into 2 triangles. If not cut the right way, it just doesn't taste right! Otherwise, I prefer buns....
I dont cut them, instead I trim off the edges with my hands if it's white bread and anything else I break it with my hands. I'm so messy

I think a sandwich is pretty cut into two triangles or by cutting those triangles in half to have four pretty pieces.

I never cut them. But, I can remember asking my mom to make them into insane shapes when she would whip one up for me. "How do you want it cut dear?" "Cut it into the shape of a witch mommy!" No joke. hahaha
It depends on the size of the sandwich. If it's managable (meaning I can get my hands around it and direct it to my mouth without all the contents falling on my lap) then I don't cut it. If it's a big, juicy cheesburger I'll cut in half vertically to avoid wearing it.
it depends on the sammich... if it's coldcuts, I rarely cut them. I gots two hands and ten fingers... in fact i made a sammich yesterday... turkey and chicken, American cheese, mayo and spicy mustard all on two slabs of Potato Bread. (I love potato bread. I'd never heard of it... until i moved to Syracuse in 2001... my friend introduced me and I've never looked back)
On the other hand... if it's a grilled cheese, it must be cut in half. usually vertically, but every so often, when I feel daring, I cut corner to corner.

if it's a really large sandwich, i might cut it - then diagonally. but usually i don't bother. i also eat from the edges to the center, so that the last bite of sandwich is the exact middle, where the most good stuff usually is!
BTW - trust me - been eating my crusts for years...flat doesnt work!
