I was unable to locate anything about Felidae regarding their policy on animal testing. Anyone here have any information about it?

I'm afraid it may be pretty hard to find a company that doesn't test on animals, especially since most pet food brands are owned one of the big multinational jacks of all trades (= the firm will be conducting animal experiments for their other probducts at least). I think the easiest way to find out is to email the company and take their answer with a pinch of salt.

How do you know if a cat is going to like a food if they don't test it with cats? I don't think animal testing in the pet food industry is inhumane (but maybe theres something I don't know??). I mean if they never tested food with cats I'd be pretty suspicious if my kitties would eat it...

If pet food industries are killing animals for the sake of their food then I've been missing something...

Well, MOST pet food companies at some point are going to test on animals. I mean, it makes sense. The real questiona are about how the animals are kept, acquired, and treated and how long teh cmpany keeps them (not to mention what happens to them after testing) while on the premises of the lab. I haven't been able to find any data on Felidae either. The only companies that I found data on that I LIKED were Wysong and Nature's Variety Prairie.

I agree with Solarity //// Feeding tests are nessarey but if you are talking about testing like the cosmestic industry that is totally different...

If on the label it says AFFCO feeding porcedures substantiate this produst( not exact ) then feeding trails have been done and joe smo didnt wake up and make a food by some guidelines without testing via set protocol...

If it says formulated to meet AFFCo standards it hasnt been tested via protocol but many companys use breeders to do taste tests( this is a bit riskier in my book

The label on the food will tell you.

Other foods say that they are "formulated to meet" AAFCO standards, which means no testing at all was done.

Regarding Felidae, this is from their website:

"FELIDAE® Cat & Kitten formula is formulated to meet the AAFCO Cat Nutrient Profiles for all life stages."

So based on this statement, one can conclude the Felidae conducts no animal testing of any type for its products.

This site's truthfulness is actually debatable. This is not to say these things don't happen regularly, targeting *** is an other matter. It's possible, even likely, that PETA has just made and example of ***, because it's a bigger and better known pet food company. So, IMO if you're OK with buing RC, Hill's etc.
