Mittens started peeing in the weirdest places about a month or so ago...I took him to the vet and they gave me some antibiotics even though they weren't able to test him for a UTI, the vet gave me the medicine because of his symptoms. Here's the thing...he peed on Watson's bed a few times and I have washed it over and over again (probably 5-7 times in the last week). As soon as I put it down on the floor, he goes over to it, squats and sprays
Is there something he doesn't like about the bed?! He has been going in his box and has stopped peeing outside the box other than this. Well, last night he peed on his bed. I am not sure what to do at this point. Is this a behavior problem????

I wonder if some of the urine smell is still trapped inside of the bed. You might need to try to clean it with the stuff Hissy recommends, I can never remember the name of it
I will try to find it in another post. Otherwise if it isn't too costly I would recommend replacing it.

Also, have you tried not putting the bed back down for a few days? I wonder if Mittens would go someplace else, if not then I would say definately behavioral.

It's Nok Out, I believe. I have some at home. I just ordered these beds and got them 2 weeks ago. I am mad because I waited over a month for them, that's why I am so frusterated. I notice that he does this stuff when Zack is in another room with the door closed and I am outside with the dog. I just don't know what to do anymore. I am tired of throwing Watson's bed into the wash every day. I have to do my other laundry sometime
Any other ideas?

I would keep him away from the beds until you think his behavior is reprogramed and time has passed to allow any leftover smell to leave. When my girl goes into heat we had to shut the bedroom doors because she will spray anything.

I use Zero Odor. I really like the stuff.

Thanks. I have decided to wash the beds in Nok Out and see what happens. If he goes on them again, I'll do it again and keep the beds locked up until I notice he isn't using the bathroom anywhere except his box.

I used Nok Out and washed the bed again. I hope this solves the problem, but I am going to put Watson's bed up for a week to make sure this is the only place he is going. I borrowed my friend Amy's black light and I didn't see any spots anywhere, thankfully.

I wonder if there is something in the material that is attracting him...here are the beds, I have one small for him and the big one is Watson's.

Oooh another idea... Start feeding him on the bed. Keep his dry food there (if you feed dry) and give him treats there. They don't pee where they eat so this might start discouraging the behavior.

I actually thougth you were talking about a spare bed he was peeing on. That cat be an even bigger pain!
