I have a kitten who will walk up to me and study my face when I am laying in bed (but only if i am awake). He will start purring very loudly, burrow towards my neck, start kneading his paws, then.... chechewchewchewchewchewchew...the whole time, purring like a tiny car. But only if we are awake (that i know of). Does anyone else's cat do this? I find it cute, but I am curious as to whe he does it. He does it to my bf too. He also licks armpits.

Miya does too! If I start laughing or moving away, she'll just stay longer. So I have to bear the tickling of her wiskers and her head in my neck.

Nope...Toby is more of a "hand-licker", and Tedy is a "hair and ankle-licker".
They are all so different, are`nt they?

LOL...I have three pit-licking cats. I doubt any of them could ever be deterred from it. One of the lickers is2 yrs old, and she still does it.

Same here. In fact, he even purrs louder when I start laughing. If I laugh AND pet him, he purrs so loud that I wonder if his tiny motor is about to explode.

Loving my beautiful baby girl
What a complement your babies are giving you! Cats have a very sensitive sense of smell. They're telling you they love you! They love and want your scent, and your head, underarms and feet are a wonderful source!

Dawnofsierra has it right. I heard it called scent mingling. They want their scent to mingle with yours because you are the "momma cat."
