OMG, I cried and cried and then I cried some more for the second half of the movie. RENT always has that effect on me.
Personally, I thought they did as good a job as they possibly could have turning what is basically an opera into a movie. I really wish they would have put at least some of the Voice Mails and Tune-ups in their original form, though. Other than that...I'm really glad Anthony Rapp and Idina Menzel were in it, too. But I thought they did a job with a musical that's kind of akward to put on the big screen to begin with! Here's a big ol' thumb of approval:
