Well, it's been a long night. Its a complete fracture and he will have surgery in about 6 hours. Meanwhile, he's in a lot of pain and begging me to make it go away

Goodness me that's not a bone you want to break. Poor baby he must be in a lot of pain. Here's some good news, though. My sister-in-law's grandmother was pushed over in a smorgasbord queue (yes, unbelievable) and she broke her femur. At 86, three months later she is fully recovered and walking fine. Incredible!

So I would surely hope that your fit little man recovers just as well if not better, and he'll be running around in no time.

Sorry to hear about your son. It makes doubly hard when they aren't nearby. I had the same thing happen to my son a few years ago. out of town playing football, he broke both bones on a slant andthe growth plate in his ankle. He also was in alot of pain.
I hope all goes well with your sons surgery and his pain is much less really soon.Sending good wishes to you and your son.

I am sorry this happened. My daughter did the same thing skiing when she was 16 and it healed fine so now she skis and rides and dances etc. But it is painful and annoying. Hope he feels better soon.

Your son is #3. A family member broke his leg this weekend, then I read that Ryan had broken his ankle, and I thought, "Okay, so who's the third person?" I'm sending healing vibes, Kim. At his age, he'll probably heal very quickly. I can sympathize with him - nobody knows how much a broken bone can hurt until they've experienced it themselves.
