Sorry about this turn of events, Ryan, but you are probably wise to bite the bullet now. No point taking unnecessary chances, even if is is a PITA.

And with hospitals nicknamed "Misery" and "Grease"
, I think I'll have to try very hard to stay healthy if I ever visit Winterpeg.

Lotsa vibes for a successful and uneventful surgery.

Ryan,

I had to have surgetu on my right elbow because the dr. that set it when i broke it messed up (being polite here) and it healed back all funky after the surgery they still gave me a cast but being an army brat i didn't have a choice of color lol so you might still get a chance to be sporting that PINK cast lol. Hope things go good and you heal soon.

Ryan, so sorry to hear about your ankle!!! My husband had to have surgery on his ankle about this time last year. He had a great surgeon and hardly had any pain at all afterwards. I hope the same good luck comes your way!!

I'm sending plenty of get well soon vibes!!!

I'm sorry you have to have surgery, Ryan. My mother was given a choice of surgery or cast (too close to call) when she broke her ankle 2 yrs ago. She opted for no surgery and has had so many problems ever since. So, it's probably best they are going that route. Sending tons of healing vibes your way and remember, no Cheetos after 8 pm on Thursday.

Here... or There... Hmmm
Well, though you may or may not now have to have a cast I still voted for green... and seeing if you throw out all the pink votes...
Green may have a chance!!! GO GREEN!!! I hope you heal quickly and painlessly. Being that you are in good shape and take care of yourself you should heal up nicely. My brothers girlfriend had to have her hip replaced and within 6 hours of surgery she was up walking to the bathroom on her own!!! She takes care of herself too. Good luck and don't eat the hospital food.

O-M-G!!!! I can't believe they are going to do surgery! Did I jinx you on this?

I could give you tons of advice, but I am sure the doctor will. Post pictures on your x-rays!

Movin' on up!
"P" colors, huh? How about PERSIMMON? or POPPY?

Personally, I would opt for PURPLE!

I was thinking of that, but when I looked at the X-Rays, they didn't look too interesting. When I brought them to the clinic today, they took them and didn't ask if I wanted them back either.

And yes Deb, you did jinx me on this and for that... I will never be able to forgive you!

(just kidding!)

Hey Cheese Boy, get x-rays with the hardware in. Those, I want to see. Bring a strong person to drive you home, as if it's anything like here, they release you while you aren't 100% un-groggy from the general anesthetic. Then they expect you to maneuver around on crutches. And then that person has to watch you for a few hours to make sure you don't spike a temp.

Just think, you'll never again not beep in airport security! You have me to thank for all of this. You should feel honored to know me.

Oh I do Deb... I most certainly do.
It's the same scenario here. I must have a ride home prearranged. The doctor also told me that the plate will eventually be removed. Then it will be safe to go airports again.

Just so you can have some piece of mind.....anything you say in that few hours after surgery is not legally binding because of the anesthetic. That includes signing checks.....

Since I went into the operating room, I didn't have a choice of color for a cast and I was sedated anyway. This is likely a temporary cast, as I go back on the ninth of December to see if I need a new one, but... I did promise a photo. It's really hard to time a smile with the self timer though.
Here it is:

By the way... can we make a deal for the new cast? I'll uhh... flip a coin or something. Heads: I choose blue. Tails: I choose pink. Deal? Sign here:
