just in case anyone remembers me posting a few times about a sick kitty named Ginger, we had to put him to sleep yesterday afternoon. He had a subtemp and the vet figured out that the mass he felt around his lower belly was a granuloma which is from FIP. Granulomas just as FIP cannot be fixed or cured...he thinks it was on his liver or intestines. Just the night before, we had been discussing exploratory surgery and an ultrasound, hoping that maybe the mass was due to partially blocked intestine or absess since those can be fixed. But looks like it wasn't meant to be, since he probably wouldn't have made it through surgery anyway. He made it total over a month with FIP, and I must say I am amazed. Poor ginger, I hope he wasn't in too much pain during this past week, staying alive probably just for us because we wanted him to live so badly...I hope he made it to the Rainbow Bridge okay.
so thanks for anyone's advice, and all ginger would ask of anyone is to be aware of FIP and it's complications.

I'm so sorry about Ginger. FIP is a horrible disease; hardly a month goes by without somebody here reporting that one of their cats has died of it. RIP, little Ginger.

I'm sorry I must have posted this first in the wrong forum. I was so upset I didn't see where I clicked. It is sad that alot of people have lost their pets to FIP. When I lost Stabby, the first kitten, I never knew that FIP would ever be a part of my life again...but it's shown me that this disease is serious and sure you can go 24 years of your life never having a cat that develops it, but when it does...I guess it makes up for lost time, however cruel it seems...but I appreciate people's kind words..this is the second day after Ginger is gone and I keep thinking he's still alive and I must do more research to help him, then...I remember...so...it's hard.

condolences on your loss of Ginger. While I know that he is playing happily over RB, released from pain & distress, I also know that you have been left to deal with a terrible anguish. My thoughts and prayers are with you during these diificult days ahead.

I am very sorry for your loss. I lost my Mattie to FIP last summer-it was the first I had ever heard of it! It is so hard to lose a cat who seemed so healthy just a short time before!

Rest in peace, Ginger, happy now over the bridge!

I am very, very sorry. My baby, Julian was put to sleep because of this stupid disease, also. I know what you're feeling.

I'm very sorry to hear of Ginger's passing. When I was younger we lost 2 cats to FIP as well...it is a terrible disease.

May Ginger RIP at the Rainbow Bridge

I'm so sorry about Ginger. I lost my kitten to FIP about a month ago. It's a terrible disease. But I'm sure Ginger and my Smudge are playing at the bridge right now and free of pain and suffering.
