My post got moved and couldn't find it to reply to all of you nice people.. We visited Princess this morning and she was great... We both know about the horrible proceedure of declawing and we met a long time with the vet there and she did get her medical book out about the meds and said the vet shoudl have given her a different drug and not kitty valium. We will bring her home tomorrow and I cant wait. We will slowly introduce her back to Hanna and Hanna is so excited about kitty coming home.. How do you post pics on here. I want to put a pic of Princess on here. I know all the posts I got about "dont declaw" but really it is our only option. We hate to do it but I just won't feel safe until it's done. Im sorry and trust me I feel the same way you all do. And yes I DO LOVE HER!
Thanks to you all

I am so glad to see she is coming home!!! Keep her nails trimmed well in case there is another problem. Much less damgage will be done if you trim her nails every 2 weeks.

I don't know if you've seen this thread to try other methods rather than declaw?!

Please note that the vast majority of members here at TCS are anti declaw and there have been some heated moments regarding the subject

If you contact one of our Mentors with regards to posting pictures, they will be only to happy to help.

You do have other options than to declaw her. I understand you when you say you won't feel safe until she is declawed, but what if she bites next time becasue she can't use her claws? Bites can be MUCH WORSE than scratches! Do you realize that she most likley will have physical and emotional problems becasue of her declaw? It is much harder to give away a declawed cat because most of the time the cat has some sort of emotional problem and people know this. Keep her nails trimmed, try softpaws,anything than declawing! PLEASE don't do this to a poor innocent creature!!Please consider finding her a new home where she won't be mutilated. It is truly the only humane thing to do.

That sounds like a wonderful idea!!! Do you use Softpaws? If you do, FYI, you can order them off E Bay and they are cheaper. Thank you SOOOOOO much for reconsidering about declawing her.
I think you really made the right choice!
In regards to your first post, I just saw it in the IMO (In my opinion) forum under general forums! I am so happy you are getting princess back (claws intact
)

Your post was moved to the IMO section, because of the issue of you perhaps declawing Princess. You will find it there - and I sincerely hope that you decide not to go ahead with this act of cruelty.

Sorry - I just read how that sounded and I didn't mean to sound nasty - I've just got a cold and I'm in a bad mood! It's fabulous that you are getting your Princess back, and I'm very pleased that you have found a lovely new vet, too.

Yes, yes, yes! Bless you for choosing to use SoftPaws (or something similar). I absolutely KNOW you're making the right decision. And if applying them gets tiresome, I'm sure you can make arrangements with a groomer to periodically do it for you.

I'm so glad for Princess! And yes, we'd love to see pictures of her and Hanna!

I had a friend call yesterday and said her friend had the same thing happen in her home and that she was told to swab Hannas mouth and them rub it on the cats nose so she can get used to her scent and she will never want to leave hanna's side. Sigfreed (?) and Roy did the same thing after the tiger attack and it worked for them. We do use soft paws but only one was still on at the time of the attack. We are going to get her today and I cant wait to see my baby.... I miss her so much

I am so glad that you are facing this issue about Princess with an open heart & mind!
I had adopted a declawed cat who would bite instead; this cat had other issues as well, because she was rescued by the police when her owner went to the hospital, the owner's husband went to jail & Child Protective Services picked up the children, so more than likely, the cat was abused, too. But anyway, she learned to bite - the only cat that I'd ever had that did that. She stopped biting when my grandson (then 7yo) put his arm around her & told her, "You don't have to bite me, Miss Tobie, this is a real home with a family who loves you very much. And you don't have to bite ever again" and voila! the cat relaxed, lay down to be stroked and never bit again. Sounds weird, but it worked! {{{Prayers & vibes}}} for Princess to overcome her own challenges! Again, bless you for your compassion!
Susan
