My kitten is about 5 months old and when we got her she was great about using her litter box, now every couple days she poops on our rug across the floor from her litter box. And the days that she does this her poop is bloody should I be worried?

Yes, you should be worried. Take her to the vet as soon as possible.

I don't know what it could be except that there's two levels of urgency here:

a) She may need an emergency vet to prevent further advancement of whatever is ailing her.

or

b) She may not need an emergency vet, but making an appointment ASAP is still necessary.

It could be a number of things. Please take her to the vet asap. She needs medical attention especially since she is so young.good luck.

A lot of blood is very bad and requires an immediate trip to the nearest 24 hour emergency vet clinic.

A few drops of bright red blood at the end of a bowel movement is nothing to be overly concerned about. It just indicates that the intestines are a little irritated. Have a stool sample checked by a vet so you can treat for any parasites that might be present.

Do you have a 24 hour vet in your area? If so, please call them and explain the situation. They will be able to provide the best recomendations.

Blood in the stool of a kitten should be checked out by a vet. It can be coccidia, parasites, an infection, or just the food the kitten is eating. But it needs to be checked out, not on an emergency level unless the stool is pure blood, but with a vet visit as soon as possible.

I have read a lot of forums about the diet but she is on science diet and thats what she has been on since before we even got her. Everytime it is bloody she doesnt use the litter box, she will poop on the rug and that will have a reddish tent but near there there is a puddle of blood or sometimes just where it is blood drops. We called the vet and they said it could be an infection we are taking her in.

We took her to the vet and they said it was bacteria, she is young and said maybe her mom was outside and eat a bird or something... but they gave us medicine to give her and said she is going to be fine.
