I've talked about my covered litterboxes a few times and have had folks ask about them. Finally took some pictures of them today - there seems to be a flurry of questions about litterboxes of late.

So - is this a window perch, scratch post or litter box cover? Yes to all 3.

With the lid flipped up to see the interior:

The box is about 33" long, 19" wide and 18" tall. The walls are made from wood and about 3/4" thick. 2 out of 3 that I have have a long piano hinge to hold the lid to the box base (the one pictured only has 2 hinges). The inside is lined with a thick plastic type material that is very easy to clean. The exterior is covered with carpet. There is hole in the side for access that is 7-1/2" round. No bottom to the box and I put a rubber backed carpet on the floor under the box for protection. The cool thing is that you can store your scooper inside the box.

And that is Pinky perched up top. I have 3 of these in the house and most days finds the cats or dogs laying up top watching the world go by. Did I tell you that they are sturdy enough to make great chairs for people too?

Great project for those that are handy with tools!

Very nice!

BTW, Pinky looks a bit irritated (fur kinda standing up). Guess she doesn't like the camera?

LOL! Pinky is just the most thick coated, fluffy cat that I've ever come across. He looks to be 20 pounds with all that fur but actually weighs in about 15 pounds. He was actually watching a bird outside when I so rudely interupted him to take the picture, so yes, he was a bit annoyed with me.

Thats cool. I would do it if I had the room. I live in a 2 bed apartment with a Husband, 2 kids and a cat. No room. But I love the idea. Great

I think that's fantastic! I'd make one too, if I lived in a house and had the room. Nice comfy place for pets to hang out.

It really doesn't look like it takes up that much room. In fact, if it provides a scratching post and a litter box, it may save space.

Of course, I live in an old house in the country, and have tons of space. But it seems like since you can make it yourself, you could just adjust the size smaller, and put the entrance on top.
