Does it matter if I get a boy or girl if I already have a girl? Molly is 2 yrs. old now and she is spayed but will she be more apt to get along better and accept a new sibling if I get a certain gender?

I think it's more the personality of the cat ( or both cats) than the gender that is the key as to how well they get along.

Well, I'm no expert, but I was always told that it's better to get one of the opposite sex especially when dealing with females.

I don't think it matters - Dushka fought with Ellie when I got her, but Ellie and Persil got on like a house on fire from day 1. All are female. Ellie and (usually) Persil get on well with the two neutered rescue boys I currently have, but Dushka ignores them. So it is down to personality, I think.

I don't think it matters either - just the personalities. My first 2 were female, the next 3 male. Not by design, just by happenstance.
