I cut my leg really bad back in June...the scar is really obvious and it bugs me
Does anyone know of a natural remedy I can use to make the scar less obvious or what I can do to get rid of it completely? I looked at the drug store and their ointments are like $15-20! Thank you!

Sorry you have a scar
The only things that I have seen are really expensive too! They are the things that look like plasters and it takes down the colour and texture of the scar.

They do calm down on their own with time though! maybe you could use one of the scar/tattoo concealers for the time being?!

I hope someone will be able to help you though!

Takes a while, but this really does work.

Buy some Vitamin E oil caplets, puncture and rub the oil onto the scar a couple times a day.

Mederma really works but it's rather expensive. Also, keep it sunblocked because scartissue will tan and stay darker than the rest of your body.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have to try the Vitamin E caplets. I don't think I can even order the Bio Oil.

Denise, I am afraid that too late with the tan problem, hopefully when I went on my cruise it didn't get too much sun...I did wear sunblock...some...

I say you need to give it time for the lividity to fade. It can take a while sometimes, I know. People's skin just heals differently. I have a friend who had major adominal surgery and healed with a barely noticable scar! Me, the cat scratches me and I'm scarred for life!

Vitamin E is supposed to help. And the new bandages that you leave on are suposed to even help with keloid scars (excess tissue), so they'd be worth checking out.

You can buy Vitamin E in an oil rather than the oil capsules. It isn't quite as thick and will be easier to apply. The sooner you use Vit E after the injury the better chance the scar has of fading. I know a guy who badly burned his arm. He had the largest blister I ever saw. He applied Vit E regularly and doesn't even have a scar.

Thanks for the suggestions, Ya'll!

Let me tell you how I got it...I opened up the computer to take a cd out of it and replace it with another. When I turned around (because my sister was screaming), I ran into the drive and it took a nice slice out of my leg (right above my knee, bout 2-3 inches above). The cut was about 4-5 inches in length. It was bruised for about a month too!

When i was a child i fell into a burning tree stump in the yard. I was burned on both legs, feet, left arm and left side of face. My mom kept Vitamin E cream and oil on my scars for the majority of my childhood and now the only scar that is visible is on my left knee and my left foot. I have been to a plastic surgeon to see if i could get the skin graphed and make it all clear. Unfortunatly he could not do that but was very impressed on how well the scar looked for the damage it did. I strongly believe in vitamin E - i'm living proof that a fire doesnt have to ruin your skin.
