If you didn't, you're missing out on the coolest scifi movie since The Matrix.
Really. It was that good.

I enjoyed the series, and was SOO disappointed when Fox canned it.
But other than the X Files and the Trek franchise, scifi doesn't seem do well on network TV.
Anyway.
My BF and I saw the trailer for the movie earlier this summer, and have been excited ever since. I wondered what the heck had happened because the series was cancelled after 11 episodes...but got made into a movie??
Now my poor boyfriend is going to be subjected to hours of Firefly, since he got me the series on DVD for my birthday.
I don't think he will mind.

Anyone else planning to see it?

As soon as it's been out for a couple of weeks, we're going. Glad to hear it lives up to the expectations.
We loved the series too.

We saw it last night! I had never heard of or seen the show, but a friend of ours really wanted to see it so we went along. It was really good, and very funny! The whole audience was really into it - applauding during the movie, particularly when certain characters appeared.

Oh, and I heard it got made into a movie because so many fans of the show complained when it was cancelled. I think you're right though, a lot of sci-fi shows don't make it on "regular" TV - maybe they thought they'd have a better shot at a movie version instead.

We were supposed to see it last night, but the theater was having projection issues and decided to cancel the showing rather than move it to another auditorium. I'm glad to hear it's good.

Apparently, when the show was on the air, Fox aired the episodes out of order. Having watched them in order on DVD, I can see how that would have been annoying and frustrating, not to mention confusing. It's an excellent show that probably would have done well if given a fair shot.

I would have preferred a long-running show to develop all the nifty story lines, but I suppose this movie will have to do.

Fox seems to regularly shoot itself in the foot with their programming, plus the fact that they put so many new and promising shows on Friday nights (notoriously bad ratings night) with the hope that it will take off like The X-Files did, and then can them when they don't pull the ratings. The sad thing is that Sci-Fi Channel wanted to pick up the rights to Firefly when Fox cancelled it, but Fox refused. I guess they were offered enough $$$ for the movie to give up their rights.

I always liked Firefly. We're definitely going to see the movie, although I'm not sure when. Now I'm really looking forward to it!

For a show that tanked in the ratings, it sure seems like a LOT of people watched it!
Maybe the SciFi Channel will be able to pick it up if it does okay at the box office. Though I don't have much faith in SciFi.... They cancelled my other favorite show, FarScape, which was their BEST rated show, until they got Stargate...and then it was their 2nd best rated show. What netowrk cans one of their best-rated shows?? ::censor::censor::censor::

For real! The last show they aired was the two hour PREMIER episode! I really enjoyed it when it was on the air, but it makes a LOT more sense now that I've been able to sit down and watch it in the right order.

An aside....
I am such a huge geek that I suddenly compelled to go out and find a yellow tabby boy cat to go with my Zoe-cat. hehe

Tell Serenity that she is so cute that they named a movie after her.

I couldn't believe it when Fox cancelled Firefly, and have been delighted that the Sci-Fi channel picked up the series, which we've been watching again every Friday
We also have the Firefly dvd, it was worth supporting, as cancelling this series was such a boneheaded move.

We just saw Serenity this afternoon...wow. I cried in one spot, unexpectedly..and wish some things hadn't happened, but it was Soooooo good to see this group of characters again. It just makes me long for Firefly to go back into productiong, we both want to see more!!!

I must say, Nate (Mal Reynolds in the film) has come a long, long way since playing Joey Buchanan on All My Children!

Go see it folks, rumor is, if it does well, there will be 2 more films (YES!!)

So Serenity IS named after Serenity, even if her meowmy didn't know it.
Too cool. I thought about that when I saw her name. hehe

2 more movies??? That would be good. I might have to go see it again to boost the chances.
