Well all has been well with Dora's kittens until tonight. The little tabby (first born) had a very swollen eye. Their eyes have been open for about 5 or so days now. I wiped his eye like you should do but all this puss came out. It is infected no doubt. I am taking him to the vet. The other kitten's eyes look fine. Should I keep him away from the others so as not to spread the infection? I am going to change all the bedding and the box just in case it is on any of that. Any other suggestions would be great.

Oh...Prego girl...I'm sorry....2 of my foster kittens developed an infection in their eyes. I don't think I kept them seperated....but I made sure to get them to the vet as early as possible. Good Luck.

Still Hittin' 'Em Right Between The Eyes
This happens from time to time with kittens. Your vet will clean everything up and prescribe meds for them - hopefully, they will be right as rain in no time. Kittens bounce back so quickly, I am confident that will be the case with yours.

Best of luck and let us know how it goes,

My little Gina had that at about 1 week. I got her to the vet really fast and he cleaned her eye out, amazed that she hadn't lost it. He said it was the Herpes virus, she was born with it. We treated all the kittens but no one else had eye infections. I didnt separate them at all. That virus flared up a few times in her first 2 years, but she is 4 now and fine. I feed her a lot of baked chicken (think she's spoiled? You have no idea....) I think that has helped strengthen her immune system. Herpes is common with many strays like Gina's mother was, they just dont get good enough nutrition.
