Hi everyone. Just wondering if someone can help me out. We just adopted a 2 month old kitten from the humane society. Our little guy was playing with his brothers there and got the corner of his eye scratched. The eye is a bit red and leaky and I am wondering what I should do. They said that they were treating it with drops at the humane society but never told us what to do. And being first time kitten owners we are cluless as to whether this is harmful. I know they did say that it was a scratch to the corner of the outside of the eye. He's acting fine, and not keeping it closed but I am wondering what to do. Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks so much.

When ever you bring home a new cat or kitten, no matter where it is from, you should make an apt. for an initial exam with your own vet. Especially in this case - did they send drops with you, or are they expecting you to get followup care with your vet?
Whether the scratch is on the lid or the eye itself, both would require ongoing care if not completely healed.

I truly would get this kitten in to your vet.
