I have 3 litter boxes and 2 cats. I scoop once or twice daily and do a complete change once a month.

We changed to Swheat Scoop litter awhile back, and don't do complete litter changes anymore. It's scoopable and flushable and clumps completely, so it's basically just hauling a litter box to the toilet, scooping and flushing until clean, and adding a little litter in to replace it. We have 2 litter boxes for 3 cats (one litter box is 1.5 times the size of the other) and tend to scoop them clean several times a week.

We've been using the WBCL for about a month or so now and I really still don't feel the boxes need a deep clean/replacement yet.
that.

even with two new kitties, no need to clean out the whole box. so far, scooping once or twice a day keeps the bits cleaned out and the box clean. nothing gets to the bottom to stick. (and since they're confined to a bedroom right now, i added a bit of baking soda and mixed it in. seems to be working.)

I scoop at least 3 times a day, if not more.

When you all say complete litter change, you clean the box and put in more litter, but don't use a brand new box, do you? I give the cats a new box when I do the change - it's easier for me, and I think the cats like it too.

I throw out my boxes every 12 to 18 months and replace them...but when I do a complete change, I just wash them out with a 5% bleach solution and hot water.

I scoop on a variable schedule, once a day on good days. Sometimes it goes 2 or 3 days. But I currently have 3 cats, and 5 litterboxes! One that they never use, but the other 4 are used often.

I like to soak the boxes in bleach about once a month. I always rotate, by having a few extra boxes, so one can be soaking while another is full and ready.

I've just started with the Pam spray...since Festie digs to the bottom, it should help a lot.

If you don't want to dump litter totally, you can rotate like I do. If I want to soak a box, but the litter still seems usable, I put it on top of another litterbox. So there is always one that has litter with less than a weeks worth of pooping and scooping. And one that is more used.

I agree with Hissy, though, that eventually all litter must be dumped, or it could harbor germs. I also like to keep them pretty clean, because I know I have a tendency to fall behind. If I aim to scoop daily, it gets done daily sometimes, and at least every 2 to 3 days. And if I aim to dump every 2-3 weeks, each litterbox starts fresh at least once a month.

If I went a week without scooping, or several months without dumping, I think my cats would revolt. But generally, they are very good about using the litterboxes. I think having extras available helps! And one is a giant rubbermaid container!

Twice a day, morning and night. And when a 'stinker' is left

Boxes are disinfected once a week.

I double bag in little plastic bags from the grocery, and put outside in the trash container. When I dump the boxes, I dump them out in the horse pasture. (Its nice to have 4 acres! LOL!)

I am afraid to flush, because we have a septic system. I'm pretty sure even flushable litter would cause a problem here. And the clay litters certainly shouldn't be flushed!

I rarely to never do a complete change. I have a small trashcan with a plastic bag and scooper next to the box. I scoop as soon as I notice something to scoop, or someone was there. Throw the bag away in a day or two. More in the summer.

Well I intend to every day. Sometimes it ends up being once every other...
But I only have one cat, and she isn't very picky about her box. I know it should be every day!

Sorry, you wanted to know how often the total toss was? Well, I haven't since, mmm, January, really, I let the box get way down and then dump the little bit remaining. (She actually likes it when there's only a little bit of litter), but I don't know where I would clean it except the bathtub and well, the little bit of litter gets stuck in the drain and clogs up the pipes.

i have 3 littermaid automated boxes. i empty the receptacles when they're full, & replenish the litter in the box itself, but i've never completely emptied & washed the boxes. haven't noticed a problem, either.

I think a lot of it depends on the type of litter use you and your cat's litterbox habits. Also, food can make the difference on how stinky their poo is.
I scoop?! (actually mostly with my hand as I can dig deeper and make SURE it is cleaned out!) at least 2x a day but I ONLY clean and replace litter when it gets a tiny smell to it.

Right now I am using the larger granual Tidy cats with chystals so I will see how long it remains good smelling.
