It was $1.45 this morning but I am told it is 99 cents a litre somewhere in the city. Multiply that by 3.8 to get how much it is per US gallon. (for some reason, I forget the exact one - the US and Cdn/British imperial gallons - are not the same. Even when we HAD imperial gallons which we do not use now. Our gas is sold by the litre.) It comes to $5.61 per US gallon.

In NB, many people cross the border for cheao gas in Maine, lol (and here we are exporting gas to the US!) Canada exports as much oil as does Saudi Arabia though it costs more for us to extridite it from the terrain here. We pay more tazes on our gas though and in NS at least, the provincial goct is looking at lowering the taxes to give consumers some relief. Wr are looking at the possibility of a fall election (provincial) so hence the impetus.

I have driven and gassed up between Tampa and Atlanta since Friday.

Friday in Tampa, I paid $3.09/gal for regular.

Friday in Valdosta, GA, I paid $3.19/gal for premium (all available).

Saturday in Atlanta, I paid $2.99/gal for regular.

Today in Lake Park, GA (2 mi. from FL), I paid $3.05/gal for regular.

The prices here on the east side of Cleveland are all around $2.95 to 2.99 a gallon. The highest I saw yesterday was $3.09 a gallon, just outside a local university.

I'm from North New Jersey, and pretty much across the board, regular is $3.20/gal. Don't really pay attn to super or premium prices, don't have to!

I drive a Honda Civic, and I filled up nearly 11 gallons for $35. It's nuts man. Last summer, I was filling it for around $18.

Some parts of the state, one can still get regular @ $3/gal. Woo hoo!! Have to ask my boyfriend (who drives to work) if they've come down at all. Right now, through the holiday weekend, it was pretty steady

Regular was €1.49 a liter yesterday - that works out to $7.08 a gallon at the current exchange rate! We're getting a delivery of heating oil on Thursday. That'll probably be about 300 - 350 liters, since our tanks are about half full.
As prices of fuel oil are supposed to go up, we might as well get enough to last through the winter now.

I am familiar with the Euro/Dollar exchange rate....
And I usually get close to a heart attack every time I hear European gas prices. Today it reached 81 cents a liter at my nearest station.

It's no wonder that the dealers are practically giving away SUVs and trucks right now. My sister does home hospice care in three states, and often puts 160 to 280 miles on her 4x4 (9 miles per gallon) in one night. Her employer only pays for part of the gas, so she went out and bought a KIA Spectra last week - it gets 36 miles per gallon. While we were out looking at cars, we noticed that a lot of people were buying New Beetles. They're not that good in snow, unlike the old Beetles, and the only ones available right away had stick shifts, which she can't drive (I had to do the test driving), so she opted for the Spectra. I bet that an awful lot of people will "downsize" now. The best-selling car in Britain right now is the Mercedes Smart, which gets about 50 miles per gallon, but is awfully small, and a "rough" ride.

Say... you know any good car you would suggest for good mileage... used? I am still looking for a car, and I am in the process of convincing my mom, as unlike my dad, she can be persuaded of anything as long as you nag her enough.

Since you don't have to worry about snow, you'd probably be best off with something small with 4 cylinders. We're in the market for a new car, so I've been reading up on safety, mileage, etc., and think we'll definitely go with an Asian car - Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, Mazda, or KIA.

My little Hyundia Accent is good for gas. Glad I got a little car when I was shopping for one.
