Mabby has always been her own women.......shes manipulative, and cute... a deadly combination........
When mabby feels her litter box is too dirty for her taste, she will let us know but relieving herself in the bathtub.....she doesnt do this very often, and as soon as the box is cleaned, she stops this bahvior........
Yet the issue is that since we brougt our new addision Poppy into the house Mabby has been doing this almost daily...........
We have 3 litter boxes which are cleaned regularly... is this just mabbys way of having a tempertantrum.....oris this amore serious delema........
and how should deal with it
Thanx

She could be having urinary problems because of stress due to a new kitten.
She should be checked by a vet.

I just had a cat pooping on the carpet over and over and over. I finally put a litter box in the next room. (There were litter boxes on the top floor and the basement, but not on the main floor.) First thing she did was poop in the litter box! I know that probably doesn't help you much, but we were thinking that maybe she was feeling stressed about the other cats using the other litter box.

If she only does this after you take a shower, she could be trying to imitate you! Cats clean themselves in their own way, she probably does not know what you are actually doing. It might be a pain but I would try putting something in the tub that she does'nt like or simply fills it like a box. On the other hand I would be happy it is in the tub!

yeah i thought it might have been the fact that she doesnt like going the bathroom where poppy did......but she does pee in the boxes.....and she only poops in the morn in the bathtub.........plus mab has a very strong willed personality, and this is a typical mabby thing to do............ I just wanted to make sure it wasnt a medical issue.....

I also wanted to know if there was anyway to stop it..........I dont pay attension to any cat any more or any less....i already have 3 litter boxes and i dont know if i have the room for a fourth......

It definitely sounds like she is trying to get some extra attention! try putting a cardboard box in the tub so she can't jump in. Have you pointed it out to her and showed your not happy with this behavior?

Hi

Cats can't be disiplined unless you actually catch them in the act. It's no good telling her off when she's stood on the bathroom floor as she'll think you're angry at her for being stood on the bathroom floor! If you've ever tried pointing a fly out to a cat you know how useless it is to try pointing at anything, the cat will look at your finger, not to where your finger is actually pointing!

First off, I would take her the vet to get a full checkup, rule out any health issues. She may have had some pain in toileting once and thereafter associated pain with the litter box, causing her to find somewhere else to do her business. Maybe she dislikes the kind of litter you're using, have you changed it recently? Can you put a litterbox in the bathroom, as she obviously feels safe there?

I have to disagree with purity, sorry. When a cat poops, they no it is there! I would simply pick her up normally, take her in to the bathroom and point it out"This is bad, no, I don't like this. Bad cat!" I gaurantee she will understand, she already knows she left it there! Then put a box in the tub to fill it.
I have had this problem in the past when I would go on vacation, come home to a lovely display of anger on my bed, both poop and pee! She knew exactly what she did when I would do this. The only problem you may have is the fact that if there is no prior discipine, she may not recognize this as disappointment with her behavior. Better late then never!
