Ok, Y'ALL- as many of you know, being a cat owner living in an apartment has been a struggle. Well, I really wanted to get a house, but certain things have prevented me from buying one. At any rate, our lease is up shortly and I'd like to at least rent a house. So anyway, (I know, you are all sighing at my usual babble) I found a house nearby for rent. The lady and I played phone tag until Fri. nite. I asked about the pet policy and she asked what we had. I said CATSSSS and she said she didnt mind (bonus #1:tounge2: ). SO we set up an appointment to see it today. In the meantime, I am cleaning my apt and think to myself, "Self, I would love it if this house had berber carpet" GUESS WHAT? It did...I loved the house- every inch of it. The most exciting part is that they are interested in leasing to buy or buy on contract...so many blessings. I would appreciate any and all prayers that this works out. I am dying to get out of this apt. and would love to have my own house. Jake is meeting with the husband tommorrow to talk details and find out more. Thanks in advance!! Jocelyn

Oh Jocelyn Good luck!! Its such a joy once you own your own home, and I am sure the feeling would be similar if you are renting a house versus an apartment!
I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you that you get it!!:tounge2:

Jocelyn:

Oh, I hear you in the struggle to afford a house (on a teacher's salary). I was able to buy one last year. Mine, too, came with Berber carpet.

I'll say one thing, the cats claw and claw at that carpet, and not a thread pulls out. It's great. In my old apartment, there was a place by the door that Squirt had managed to damage over the course of 4 years.

The other funny thing is that when the cats go dashing through the house, they sound like little ponies running the track.

Good luck with the house.

That's AWESOME Joce!!! I have to laugh about what Deb said. I'm tiling my whole house soon...instead of pony's I'll be hearing them sliding across the floor! HAHA...They do that now in the kitchen and dining area and seem to love it. I can't wait till they have the long hallway to get that long running start....:laughing2

I'll say prayers for you...but I know you'll get it....Great things happen to Great People!

Berber carpet is tightly woven. It's not like a plush carpet. Sometimes it has different patters, other times it's just kind of bumpy looking. I have berber, but not throughout the house. I like it cause it doesn't leave track marks like other carpet does.

I hope I explained that...I'm sure you've seen it before.

Hugs,
Catarina

THanks everyone...it seems that so many pieces are falling in place with this..my fingers are crossed.

KF- the benefit of berber to me is similar to Deb25and MY Cat- the kitties and play all day with it without a snag and it doesnt show all the "crap" that regular carpet shows...

Best of luck! It is great moving from an apartment to a house - we did it 4 years ago. It is so funny to watch the cats explore their new expanded space. They run from the basement up to the top floor and down again - it sounds like a herd of wild elephants! :tounge2: One thing to watch if they do start the running is skinned knees. My Pepperpot kept skidding to a halt at the bottom of the stairs so she wouldn't crash into the wall and the back of her legs lost all the fur! It didn't seem to bother her though.

Jocelyn & Cat:

Jocelyn : I am crossing my fingers for that you get the house - But I sure you will. One question though. I looking to recarpet my house next year and was told to stay away from Berber cause cats claws keep snagging in the loops. What kind of Berber do you have the tight, tight woven kind?

Cat: I am having my kitchen and hallway tiled in March. As you know our little furballs are very nosey and always want to help out. I really don't want to lock him into the bedroom for 2 days cause all the noise would just spook him if he didn't know where it came from. Any any hints, suggestion???

Thanks

Helen

Hi Helen
:kitty5:

Definitely keep the babies locked in another room...you're going to have to seal that tile and grout (sometimes the fumes are very strong!!!)...keep the kitties and yourselves in a well ventilated area
