We adopted a kitty, we named her Kaci, she was at a local shelter for the last 3 months, she was picked up as a stray. we have already fallen in love with her. I am worried they said most cats get upper respitory problems when at the pound and said she was treated and should be fine. I am looking for a local vet to take her to. I would like to get her fixed and they said she needs rabies shot, she didnt get yet due to age.she is still a little skidish but im sure she will adjust.any tips???thanks

It's so lovely that you rescued Kaci. Yes, please do get her spayed when she reaches the right age - going into heat is no fun for a female kitty and can ultimately lead to health problems. You will find loads of people here who have rescue kitties and will be able to give you tips on how to settle your little girl. You could also try looking in the Caring for Ferals & Strays forum this will be full of tips for nervous kitties.

Our kittens get their rabies around 3.5-4 months of age. They are spayed around the same time. I would set her up for her rabies appt. and also set up her spay for around the same time.

Katie

Hello kaci and I and my daughter missy just got home from the vet. The DR said she is healthy and well behaved. Have gave her a rabies shot, even though she is only indoor cat i wanted her to have it. I brought in a sample of her dodo.i have to call monday for results. they aslo gave her medicine for her wheezing and sneezing. they said her chest was clear. no fleas either thank goodness. he put her on frontline plus.well thats all for know, thanks for all the warm welcomes...
