Please wave a hello to my sister who will be flying over to your shores today!
Her plane is due to leave London Heathrow at 12.30 GMT going to Philly (where she is staying for two weeks with her girlfriend).

I think she's going to take a sleeping pill....
She is okay with flying, but gets very claustraphobic and suffers with restless leg syndrome! I feel sorry for the person sitting next to her! Awwww

It's her 5th time...

She met her g/f on the internet about 5 years ago but they didn't meet up in person until 4 years ago. My sister went on a road trip through the USA for 3 months in a camper van! She was with another traveller (who she also met online). They started their trip in San Francisco and ended up in New York. She did so much in the space of 3 months - route 66, Niagra falls, every famous place in the USA she went to!
It was at the end of her trip that she went to Philly to meet up with her g/f - they hit it off instantly.

It amazes me how two people can meet their soul mate thousands of miles away! Her g/f came to England for 1 year a few years ago and since then they have been taking trips back and forth.... Good luck to them because I know long distance relationships can be hard

Gilly, that's so lovely!

I am, however, entirely jealous that she got to tour the US in a camper!

It must be true love though for Andrea to go through the clostrophobia of a flight to visit Shannon!

I hope they will have a fantastic time - i'm sure they will!

Do they ever plan on moving to be together?

ooo,
I have a friend in england, his gf of 16 years broke up with him because it was time to tell him that she was lesbian, and that she found her soul mate online in america!
Like your sister she kept on going back and forth but now she got her green card so she isnt planning to go back to england anymore.
I hope your sister has loads of fun

Well I think that they would like to, but S is not sure she wants to leave her family, which is how my sis feels also. The other problem is, my parents have not taken it very well that my sister has a girlfriend. Only yesterday my mum was crying to A that she didn't want her to go as it won't get her anywhere...

So not only do they have to deal with the fact that they live miles away, but they also have to deal with the family stigma that surrounds them both
I shall add though, I am very, very happy for them!

Thats sad Gilly
It's just a case of your mum and dad remembering that no matter what she is, what she does, she's still the same daughter that they held in their arms as a baby

Do either plan on emigrating to either place soon?
I am so happy that you are there for her and maybe you could work on your parents a bit while she is gone

I hope she has an awesome trip! Tell her to get a cheese steak on me...
Unless she is veggie...cuz that wouldn't work

I'm so happy for your sister, but sorry that she has to deal with such backlash from your parents. I hope they come to accept and embrace the situation and I hope your sis has a GREAT visit with her girlfriend
.

I'm nowhere near Philly, but waving at her anyway!

Hi, Gilly's sister!

Hope you can see me from Chicagoland! Give Gilly a big hug from me when you get home.
