Or..what WAS on the menu for tonight

Here in Chi-town, IL, we'll be enjoying Pasta di stalla (Pasta from teh barn) which my grandma always made on 'quick dinner' nights. It's basically pasta shapes, a crushed tomato/tomato paste sauce (with garlic and a tad bit of chili pepper) tossed with potatoes and broccoli

I'm also oven-raoting some garlic cloves to spread on the bread and make garlic butter with!

So, what else are we eating out there in cat-lover land???

My husband and I have a virus of some sort and are doing our best not to puke : ( I think he caught something when he was travelling out of state earlier this week and now he gave it to me.

I love that stuff, the parmesean flavor especially
Before we moved to the house our apartment was like 5 minutes away from my office and I used to go home at lunch time and eat that at least once a week.

Tonight we are eating standing rib roast, garlic mashed potatos and steamed veggies.

My daughter and I sweltered & just about died of heat stroke at the County fair today. So we came home, passed out cold in the A/C, woke up and had...

Twice-baked macaroni & cheese! You make that normal Kraft Mac & Cheese stuff (in the blue box?) and then, pour it into a pie plate, put some parmesan or some other cheese & some chopped ham on top... bake it... let it get all gooey... then ta-da... eat...!!! GOOD STUFF!

It's really great served with texas toast... with extra cheese.

We certainly got our calcium intake today.

And for dessert, roasted marshmallows. She's grabbing some neighborhood friends so they can watch me burn my deck down.

Bill fried some chicken wings and red potatoes. In a little while, I'll have a bowl of Dreyer's Rocky Road ice cream

well, since I'm moving in 2 weeks, I'm doing my best to use up everything that's already in the cupboard. Makes for some weird meals sometimes.

Tonight I had some sort of Chili Lasagna thing. I mixed two cans of tomatoes with 1 chopped green pepper, some soy, rice and some spices (oregano, paprika, cumin and a little bit of chili powder and cinnamon). Layered that with some tortilla bread and covered it with shredded cheddar cheese. Baked it until the cheese was nice and brown.

It was actually really good.

Would have been even better if I had some onions and maybe some black beans and corn too.

I'll have to remember that recipe.

Ooohh, that twiced baked mac n cheese sounds really yummy! I'll have to try that some time.

It's been dreary and cool today. I don't know if we even broke 70*, and it's been cloudy and drizzly. So we decided spaghetti sounded good.
Oh, and we got a big ol' loaf of "rough garlic bread" from Sam's Club so we're having that too.

Well, it's either a BBQ night or a salad night, cuz no way am I heating up the kitchen! And since I picked up a really nice garlic and cheese twist (bread) yesterday and there's some deli ham that probably shouldn't wait too many more days, looks like the answer is salad. Picked up some really lovely sweet red peppers, too -- they'll help, along with whatever else is in the crisper, and some cherry tomatoes from the garden. Either watermelon or blueberries for dessert. Yup. There we are.

Well it's actually cold here, so I made soup. A corn soup with fresh corn and tomatoes. then I made some cherry tomato salad, along with some cheese and bread. Quite nice.

The weather is really bizarre in SF area, overcast and looks like rain.

I think I might be getting a cold or flu... I'm pretty feverish.
Hope it wasn't the KD I had for dinner earlier.
