My four babies are 4wks old, so I am introducing them to food and litter .I'm very thankful that I just read on here the other day not to use clumping litter.(This one of many reasons I'm so happy to have found this site with such wonderful caring cat people

So I bought the regular clay and caught one of my boys eating it, I got most of it out of his mouth but I'm wondering if he has eaten more when I was not watching him will he be ok

Little ones just exploring litter for the first time will eat it. Most of the time, they spit it out and don't swallow it. Since you got most of it out of his mouth, he should be fine.

Thank you,
I am trying to do everything right, doing what I have learned on this site and read to make sure they are healthy.

I sure do LOVE these babies
all four of them.

*smile* They do tend to steal our hearts, don't they? You know, the litter we are expecting from Tonka and Lexus in about 4 weeks or so hasn't even been born yet and I can already feel that pull in my stomach knowing they will go to new homes. I feel like little pieces of my heart leave with each and every one of them.

I remember reading that no-clumping litter isn;t good for kittens but out of curiousity - why?

Because kittens by nature are very curious and because most, if not all kittens will sample litter when first introduced to it by trying to eat it, clumping litter is not recommended. It hardens into a clump when wet and if they eat it, it hardens in their system potentially causing life-threatening obstructions.

I think this should be a sticky note,Because I would of used clumping litter if I had not read it on another post and my have lost my babies.
Thanks
