Before I had braces I had to have 4 teeth pulled. Two one day and two other ones the next. I have also had a wisdom tooth pulled (and have three more to go! lucky me!). And recently had a root canal. Each time I lived on Ramen Noodles. lol They are fine as long as you chop up the noodles -- so you don't slurp and open where the tooth was before.

Hope you're feeling better!

Under the cats, mostly.
I haven't had any teeth taken out - they put me on a waiting list to have my top two wisdom teeth taken out because I'm nervous around dentists they were going to sedate me. I wanted to be out cold when they did it, but they just don't do that any more
But before they even got back to me, my wisdom teeth had fallen out by themselves. It hurt like hell, but that's what waiting lists will do, I think. The holes are healing nicely - just so long as I keep on gargling the salt water until they're all healed up properly, then they'll stay clean and hopefully not cause me any bother again. I wrote back to my dentist to let him know what had happened, he took a look at me and said "oh, where have they gone then?" Like, DUH!

So food... lots of mashed stuff... the mashed banana was always great - very well mashed potato was fab too... if you add a little bit of milk to them it softens them a bit more and that can be really filling. If you make mashed potato and grate in some cheese while it's still hot and a little bit of ketchup, that tastes good
Tell me I'm wierd. Very well pureed soup, actually, sometimes just a glass of milk can be filling for a while. Milk is a food after all... I guess you can eat more or less anything, as long as it's mashed to a pulp.

Good luck and keep us posted

Ouch! I don't have any advice that already hasn't been given. Many hugs your way because that does hurt. The pain goes away before you know it

I had three taken out at once, all impacted. I found that cold stuff felt great when it was hurting. Of course, I could hardly eat anything for the first two days, and ended up getting sick from the pain medication. However, on day 3, I feasted on milkshakes and mashed potatoes. Baby food works great too!

No straws! Not sure if they told you that, but you could pull your stitches, I guess. They about had a heart attack when I said I wanted a milkshake. I ate it with a spoon!

Good luck, sweetie! Feel better soon!

I ate chicken on the same day that I had all four of my (impacted) wisdom teeth removed.

Other than that... enjoy the ice cream!

Soup soup soup soup. You'll get sick of the sight of it but it gives you the sustenance you'll need, and you can suck it up through a straw. I seem to remember the really painful part about having your wisdom teeth out was actually trying to open your mouth wide enough to get a spoon in it!! OUCH!!

Also, try mushing up icecream and sucking that up - tastes like a thick-shake. And freshly squeezed vegetable and fruit juices - yummy and refreshing and very good for your recovery.

eewww....I never thought of the drooling. Great, when I get mine out (hopefully) soon, I can have a drool contest with Pushkin the slobber-mouth!
Would other forms of liquid refreshments be appropriate? I'm thinkin' a little rum for dinner....

Trav had his out in March and he had no pain, no swelling, nothing. Before his surgery, I told him I would get him a Tendercrisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch at Burger King when he felt better(that's when they first came out) and he got one about 3 days after surgery and hasn't stopped since......not fair. Trav's were impacted too but they didn't have to cut them out. He was in and out in about a half hour.

I haven't had my wisdom teeth out yet although they are coming in. I had my tonsils out last year but its not the same.

I know after a couple days (if I remember correctly) you can eat like scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes. Good luck though and I hope you feel better!

Oh! And you aren't supposed to do any sucking motions (sucking through a straw, etc). You can get dry sockets and to get them cut out is worse than getting the first surgery because they have to go in and cut out what has healed over. Just so you don't have to go through more pain. They really pushed Trav not to suck through a straw. That's all they said "Whatever you do, DO NOT USE A STRAW!"

And no mouthwash for a week after you start eating hard foods. If you get food stuck in the holes, you salt water to swish it out.

Any more questions, PM me. Trav remembers quite a bit.

Here's a website I found that might help a little too.

Something else that is gross and I don't know if it's happened to anyone else, is when the stitches in your mouth get foodstuffs caught in them and then a few days later when the food has gone bad it liquidises and then squirts at random intervals back into your mouth. The taste is PUTRID!! Ewwwwwwwwwwww
