Ok, here's another household appliance topic

I have the space for a dishwasher, all plumbed in and ready to rock and roll... But I live alone so do I buy a slimline dishwasher that costs about £100 more than a full sized dishwasher but uses less water etc or do I buy a fullsized dishwasher in case a few years down the line I might need a fullsized one?

Or if I meet a bloke and he moves in we might need the full sized one, cos men are lazy and don't wash up!

plus with a fullsize one you can do the washing up once a week - coz thats how long it'll take you to fill!

Well I only have a set of 6 knives, forks, spoons and tea spoons so I think if I used it once a week then I would have to buy more. I have tonnes of bowls and plates though, not to mention mugs & glasses...

Get yourself to Primark!!

Seriously though their cutlery, plates etc.... are as cheap as their clothes!.

I'd buy the bigger one too. You just have to run it less often!! Unless of course you are out of dishes (that happens in my house -all the silverware is dirty and in the dishwasher but not full of other stuff to run it!!)

Another vote for the bigger one!

You might find that should anything go wrong with the slimline one - replacement parts will be more expensive, and possibly harder to come by. Rather go for the standard size!

My wife tells me that she has never heard of a husband being shot while doing dishes . . .

I have a full size one and I live by myself with a 4 place setting of silverware. I have to do dishes about twice a week (I must admit I find myself washing a fair amount of spoons by hand) Its also nice because you can throw in the pans and stuff you used to cook dinner with as well instead of having to leave the big stuff out like you would a mini one.

Another vote for the full sized one.

To be sure, that's all I have experienced. The first one was while I was living on my own, though, and filling it gradually and running only every few days was never a problem. But the thing that I've always found with slimline, or compact, or whatever, in any appliance, is that you lose a LOT of flexibility.

It's not only about the occasional huge load, or how your needs might change in the coming years, but about being able to use the space efficiently -- much easier if there is more of it. When you DO run it, you'll have less wasted space. If you can't fill it as efficiently, all bets are off where capacity comparisons are concerned. As a result, there might not even be such a great saving in water consumption, either, in the end.

Ok... well I went for the slim line one. I got a good deal on it, and it's the same make and colour as my fridge/freezer & washing machine and they are delivering this Saturday!
It's all going to match lovely!

Here it is:

Because the space I have was for a full sized dishwasher (with a few cm's left over) I am going to treat myself to a very fancy, cool bin to fit in this gap! I keep "playing" with this bin in the shops near hear as well!

Here it is:

You hit the pedal and the top opens like butterfly wings! ....

That bin costs £109.....
but, I think if it fits in that gap and will last a long time, then I don't care....

(oh and I am going to Heals to look in the sale at lunchtime cos they might have it cheaper!)

I have lots of extra plates, mugs, glasses I just need knives, forks & spoons so I might just go to Ikea or something cos they are cheap too!
