Garfield had a shot this morning. It was his FVRCP and also Leukemia.
He hasnt eaten since then and he only seems to want to sleep. This is weird for him. He usually plays and plays and plays.

Is this a normal reaction after getting these shots?

I'm not sure if it's 'normal', but I wouldn't worry about it unless it goes on for two or more days. (Wouldn't you be hurting too? He's probably trying to punish you for taking him to the vet's! Haha

yea he probably is. Its funny b/c I took all 6 of Lilos kittens to get thier 1st shots and as soon as I opened the carrier that the kittens were in Garfield ran into it all the way to the back like a big baby.

then I said come on Garfield.... all the babies got their shots and didnt cry. Dont be a big baby.
He just gave me a look from hell.

So he probably is punishing me.

One of mine is always a little "off" after her shots too.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
I know the leukemia shot makes them off colour for the first 24 hours, but with mine being indoors i stopped giving them that one and they only have the flu/enteritis shot now.

Some cats react differently than others. Plus it depends on it if was a live virus shot or a dead virus shot. Keep and eye on him and if it doesn't get better in 24 hrs, call the vet.

I agree, it is common for cats to be a little lethargic for 24 hours. Definitely call the vet if it lasts longer than that. Hope Garfield feels better soon!

Thanks everyone.

We had a lonnnnggggg night. Well I did.
Garfield slept from 2 o-clock yesturday until this morning. I tried to wake him to see his reaction but he would only lift his head up at me with his eyes closed. I was so worried.
I even tried to bribe him to eat by giving him some wet food!! That is like a treat for him. NO budge from him. Although Lilo didn't mind devouring it for him.

This morning he seems a little better. He drank some water and ate a little. He was even playing with Lilo. So I hope that it was just a reaction from the shot.
I will keep everyone updated on how he is doing. if he is not back to his normal self by tomorrow I am going to bring him in.

OK. I noticed last night and also again just now that when he goes to poop... its like water. But has a little darker tint to it. He seems to be playing fine. Still not eating. He ate a very little this morning.
Could this be part of the reaction of the leaukemia shot?

Or should I be worried?
