Can't say much about the short dating time/engagement....we met in April, engaged in Aug, wanted to get married Thanksgiving, lol!
I voted it won't last, and i'll give them until this time next year.
I met and married my husband within 8 months and we lasted 18 years before i finished it.
But i think you have to work harder at it when it's a showbiz marriage

These people tend to be a very bad example for us 'regular' people, who also have an extremely high rate of failing marriage.
I just really wish that things like this stopped making the front page. There are more important things happening in the world than who Tom Cruise is getting married to this week that people should be aware of.

I don't think it will last because I think it is publicity stunt. I also only knew my dh for 7 months before we married, 12 yrs later and we are still happy!
She claims that she used to have a poster of him in her room and said "I'm going to marry him someday" wooohoo! I guess that means they were meant to be. She dated Chris Klien for 5 years, and never got engaged. They should both know better. It won't last. How can one honestly and truely get to know everything about a person in 2 months time? I could care less, but they are setting a bad example.
I have to agree with Beckiboo. I think it's a publicity stunt as well, so I don't think it will last. But I think she will benefit more out of this whole thing than him, since he is an established actor already...not that she isn't just wasn't high up on the interesting list. But it's interesting to read that many got married within the first year of the relationship

I don't think it will last either. I've got a lot of opinions about some aspects of this story, but being this isn't an IMO thread so much, I'll keep it to myself.
It doesn't matter much to me, but I would hope it would work for them just because I have no reason to wish it wouldn't!
On a note about time dating, my parents dated 3 months before getting engaged. My mom was 18 and my dad was 26. They've now been married for 33 years so timing never really strikes me as a deciding factor.

Is it just me that this seems a little creepy about? At least from Tom's perspective?
And wow...if they were meant to be because she had posters and swore she'd marry him as a girl, then I must be destined to marry...um....Tommy Lee, or a plethora of other rock stars! Move over Tara Reid - I had dibbs!
