Ah-huh! This sheds a different light on things
. What do you want to bet that the cat-flap was installed by the LLs daughter and the damage resulted from her cat??? It MAY be that that's when a "no pets" policy came into being, and you're unfortunately bearing the brunt of it
.

lol, this reminds me something, when we moved into our house in australia it said no pets, but the land lady saw we had 5 cats and she told us it was ok (because she loves animals)! and she was really angry at the angency when the angency B*tched at us for not following policy and not talking to the agency about the house...
Luckly though the landlady only lived around the corner, so they always came and visited us.

Ah! I never thought of that! I think if it was her cat then she really should have sorted out the damage before she left! (as most conscientious pet owners would!) It does make quite a bit of sense though!

Shame I have to wear the hair shirt for her wrong doings!

Hurrumph! It has been almost twenty-four hours since I sne tmy email and still no reply!
It is really annoying, as I can't tell if she has received it and read/deleted it or she is just ignoring it - or that she's trying to persuaded Mr LL to accept them?

I just wish she would reply with some sort of info!

At the kitty's beck and call
Don't worry 24 hours is not a long time. For the more computer literate it seems like ages because emails are generally responded too quickly. But many who don't use a computer very much check their emails just a couple of times a week. If you haven't heard after 3 days it might be worth thinking about contacting again.

The waiting still isn't easy though is it.

Yeah, I never thought of that! I just kind of assume that everyone is as computer literate as we all are!
I think I will leave it for three days and see what happens - I could always go through the agent if it comes to the crunch or maybe post the letter etc to LL?

The waiting is so hard! I keep refreshing my email and taking a deep breath in anticipation of a reply from her!

I would post it. You might also consider registered mail, or whatever the British equivalent is, you know, where they have to sign for it. That way you will KNOW that it's been received.

You could always send her a follow up email in about two days..asking politely if she had had a chance to review your email yet...
But you said you sent it to a general email for the company???
Perhaps she doesn't read the emails?
You could add ATTN: LANDLADY at the top.

Susan, we're not in yet! My little car can only hold so many boxes (and we have SO much stuff!)

I might actually send it by recorded, but I'll give her a few days yet - to see what happens!

Loveysmummy, I'm not sure if the email was a general on for the company or a personal one - it was her name in the email though! I named the property in the subject too, so it should ring a bell to someone!

I just can't stand the waiting!

Still no news regarding the email!

But....remembering what the SU rep said, 'the cats are TOTALLY separate from the repairs', I googled the broken toilet problem and found excatly the problem that we have. It said that you cannot repair it and it should be replaced - as it is dangerous and cause a great extent of damage.

So, today, we phoned Environmental Health. After explaining the problem, they said that it would probably need to be replaced and they are going to send an inspector around to take a look.

At least we are making a move on the repairs, so that's a good thing!

Just the cat thing to tackle!

AWWW Sar, I thought this was an update (pout)...!

Let us know when you know..
Sending good vibes and on the edge of my seat to hear news.

This is such a problem everywhere it seems! In my city, when the lease says "no pets", sometimes they MEAN it and sometimes they don't...Cats are usually tolerated but you have to look in windows to see if there are other cats living there...

My apartment right now is the odd one out as my landlord adores cats and EVERYONE in my block has at least one.. There are even playdates with people who know each other in the bldg...and there is always someone around to cat-sit if you go away...

I really hope it works out for you!

We are hoping and aiming to be in this weekend (we both have a lot of uni work and things coming up!) I was just hoping that they would have sorted the toilet out before we moved in - it will be a pain for me trying to hobble downstairs in the middle of the night when I need the loo!

Loveysmummy, I am sorry it couldn't have been a better update!
I think the LL would like to mean 'no pets' but as we were misinformed, it was not our fault that we took the property on that understanding!

It sounds like you have a really great LL! It must be so great to live at peace with your kitties! And on hand pet sitters - that's brilliant!

Goodluck with getting your babies in with you!!
It must be very stressful

We live in an aparment block where we are not supposed to have larger pets (according to fineprint) - even though we own the place.

The woman who lives below us is on the board for the apartment block though and she is always dogsitting this yappy little creature that craps on the gardens... I figured they cant vote us out for having kitty if a board member has a pooping dog half the time...

sure enough - one year later and no-one has said a word about my sweet Daxine!!

It sure is stressful!
Especially with the thought of having to go to court if they want to evict us (once we're in and with my babies!
)

Gosh, it must be annoying having that lady have a yapper type dog and pooping everywhere....yuck! I think they should really make the rule that you can have small pets, but not noisy ones!

I am glad that you are alright with Daxine! She is very beautiful, by the way!

:

I got an email!

Guess what?! It is okay for me to have my two babies in the house! (all being well that we don't cause any probloms, that I don't expect we will!)

The Landlord and Landlady are cat lovers themselves! How great is that!

I am so happy that we will be able to move into the house being honest about our situation!
I am actually crying with joy - things couldn't have gone any better!

Thank you all for your wonderful vibes and support!

I don't know that I would have come out the other end so well if it wasn't for you all!

I will post pictures as soon as we are in!!
